Hodges is the complete deal. Wonderful quality plants and an owner that is passionate about helping his customers achieve great garden success. All employees are great and helpful. Good prices for quality and it feels good to buy local. Love the free classes on gardening he provides.

I hesitate to rate a local business with just 3 stars — these are the people I want to thrive. I tried Hodges as an alternative to the big box store just down the road. I hope they’ll take this review as constructive… because I do plan to visit again and if I have a better experience, I’ll shout it from the rooftop.
The customer service was a little curt, one of the two times I visited. Most recently I called on the phone with a questions and again, a little curt. I guess I expected more niceties. Maybe my expectations in general are to high.
Some of their vegitable starts looked a little rough on my first visit, but I gave them a shot since I can usually revive plants. On my second trip everything looked great and I wished I had waited to buy.
The grounds are really nice and one young man gave me the most information when we were discussing trees. I enjoy the short drive to Durham, so I’ll be back. Hopefully I’ll get that warm customer service that I’m sure the business owners hope their customers are getting.

My wife and I purchased 6 fruit trees yesterday. The customer service was outstanding!!! The nice worker who assisted us was very helpful and she was able to answer all our questions. It was a great day at the nursery!

I am new to the region and have especially appreciated Hodges free fruit tree planting and pruning workshops. They also offer other free informational events throughout the year, like the one I went to this past weekend which was a wonderful and tasty fruit tasting event. Ken Hodge has just become a Master Gardener and is always willing to share his advice o growing and pest prevention, strategies. The nursery itself is beautiful, filled with an amazing variety of trees and plants of all kinds. It is one of my favorite places in the area. They also sell a huge variety of amazing tomato plants during the Spring that are extremely hardy and vigorous. Definitely worth a visit if you love plants like I do.
