I’ve had my eye on Indio for a while now and after stopping by yesterday, I’ll make it a point to enter this store more often. Located in the heart of Brightleaf Square, Indio is a bright and beautiful goods and gifts shop that also offers an assortment of classes. The shop itself is geared towards adults but they do offer several adult and child classes. Walking into Indio, you’ll love the hardwood floors and bright colors, bringing back memories of Indian and Northern Thailand. You’ll find everything from candles, room fresheners and beauty products to scarves, pillows and art for your walls. And don’t forget the jewelry, they have some absolutely lovely pieces, from silver and metal works to beaded necklaces, you won’t want to leave without something in hand! Prices are high($$$) but if you’re looking for a unique gift, this could be the winning stop. Employees were visible but not hands-on with customers.

What a wonderful boutique! I’m always so happy when I find a spot like this that has a really lovely, curated selection of things at reasonable prices. This small store is packed with unique finds, with a handmade, artisan/international bent. There’s a good selection of jewelry(earrings, bracelets and necklaces) under $ 100, cool bags, cards, candles, soaps, holiday ornaments and other handmade goods. Most items seemed to be made in the USA or marked as fair trade. I saw Indio advertised in the Durham Magazine and am so glad I checked it out! I just stopped in and got a soft colorful cotton shawl for a holiday gift for $ 32. The shop entrance is inside Brightleaf Square.
