North Pointe Commons Apartments

I have to say that North Pointe Commons is luxury living on a budget. The apartments are clean and the neighborhood is relatively safe. The management staff are warm and welcoming, super friendly. Maintenance issues are handled very quickly. There’s plenty of parking and the location is close to shopping and downtown Durham. Cable and access to the fitness center are included in the rent. If you were moving to Durham from another state you could feel confident renting here without seeing the apartment first, if necessary. What you see online is an accurate representation.

The walls are very thin, you can hear neighbors snoring, talking, playing music on their cell phones, etc. as if they were in your apartment with you. The insulation if very poor, however, the maintenance staff will tell you «we get these complaints all the time, there’s nothing we can do about it. People up North hang thick curtains… you should put a towel or blanket under the window sill…» There’s supposed to be a fee if you leave your dog’s feces on the lawn… people still do it religiously… I’ve offered several neighbors plastic bags as they were walking away from their animal’s dump. Front office staff have a high overturn rate. And if you complain to them about your problems, when they think you have left the office they will «talk» about you, rather badly… And because of the high overturn rate, be sure that YOU stay on top of your maintenance requests… or it could be a week later when you realize that no one has come out to fix your problem, nor have they called or emailed you… Don’t be fooled by the «gated community,» the gates are always open, and if they are closed at night — and you don’t allow a car to tail you in because you worry about the safety of your neighbors — once they gain access into the gate, they may just follow you home, cuss you out, and call you sexist and borderline racist names. But please, oh no, don’t report this to the front office staff… because «that person is such a nice guy and you shouldn’t worry about him…» READY TO MOVE! This place is a dump! Don’t fall for the Okey Doke like I did!!!
