Pine State Flowers

Pine State Flowers carries beautiful flower arrangements and plants for all occasions. The staff is very helpful. They carry a unique selection of planters, handmade pots, garden accessories and terrariums. Parking is limited to the side street.

I was the very lucky recipient of several bouquets from Pine State this week. Each was simply breathtaking — elegant, unique, just lovely. They incorporated unusual and beautiful elements, such as apple blossom branches, to complement the local springtime beauties: peonies, ranunculus, lilies, snapdragons, and more. Their arrangements were different and stunning and vases so charming and simple. And they were all delivered with a smile and kind words. I can’t say enough good things about this lovely business.

I was looking to send flowers to my stepmother for Mother’s Day, and so I Unilocaled florists in town since I live several states away. This florist came up and looked really interesting — I was looking for something unique and local. They use local, organic flowers to be environmentally friendly and support local farms. I took a leap of faith since I couldn’t choose the exact arrangement a la «the other guys.» I trusted my fellow Unilocalers. It was a major win! I was able to order one evening from my home, online, and they were delivered the next morning to my stepmom. The convenience factor was huge for me, along with the unique qualities of the florist. My stepmom was absolutely thrilled with the flowers. They are gorgeous (see photo)! Her office mates were so impressed that they plan on using the florist for personal and business purposes in the future. It was a little more pricey than the run of the mill florist, but was worth paying extra for the convenience and quality, as well as the local business factor. I plan on ordering again in the future!

I was so pleased with the quality and personal service provided by Pine State Flowers. We ordered an arrangement for a funeral service and I wanted something uplifting rather than somber and formal. I found Pine State online and noted that they use locally grown flowers. Saw their postings on their site and Instagram and immediately knew that this was the style I wanted. They listened to my requests and added their own creativity as well. They even texted me a photo of the arrangement upon delivery. Just beautiful and the cost @$ 115 included delivery was reasonable compares to other arrangements this size at other shops. Can’t say enough good things and will use them again in the future hopefully for a happier occasion. Wish they were here in CA!

I had an absolutely wonderful experience with Pine State and had to share! My mother was visiting Durham for her birthday, so I ordered a bouquet to be delivered to her hotel along with a gift box of chocolates, peanut butter, and tea. My only request was that there be purple flowers since it’s her favorite color. Not only did I receive a text confirmation of the delivery, but my mother adored the bouquet (plenty of purple!) and the handwritten card with the other gifts. The price was very reasonable, service was beyond friendly (I ordered in person in the store — as others have said it is very cute and well-​designed), and I would order from Pine State again in a heartbeat!

We had the BEST experience with Maggie, at Pine State Flowers. My daughter just moved cross country to No. Carolina and we wanted to send her something special, for her birthday. I spoke with Maggie over the phone and she was so helpful and accommodating! She told me all about what flowers might be available and when I asked for succulents in the bouquet, it was no problem! (Another florist was going to charge me almost double, for a bouquet with succulents!) The bouquet arrived on time, we got a text when they were delivered, and my daughter was thrilled. She said the smell was amazing and the flowers were gorgeous. And we love that they are all locally grown! I wish we had a florist like this, here at our house!

I recently purchased two vase arrangements. Customer service was impeccable and efficient both times. The first time, I called in an order for same-​day delivery (call before 2pm), and although I never saw the arrangement, the recipient was very pleased. The second time, I called ahead to pickup a small arrangement — the shop is incredibly cute, and I was in and out in 5 minutes. Prices seem pretty good for a local, independent flower shop.

Pine State Flowers is an awesome addition to the Triangle. Maggie, the owner is a pleasure to work with, very friendly, helpful, down to earth, and talented. My husband and I were looking for flowers for our DIY wedding last May and nothing seemed quite right. Either the flowers didn’t feel special, or they were way too expensive. Finding Pine State was such a relief because she uses local, seasonal, sustainable flowers and she was very flexible with arrangements. The cost was much more affordable than some places that try to overprice for special events and she even let us bring in our own «vases» that we had collected over the months from reused bottles and jars. She did an amazing job filling all 100 vases in a way that matched our budget but still looked beautiful. She also did a perfect job with the bride’s maid bouquet and boutineers for the best man, groom and ring bearer. I can’t recommend her enough!

My boyfriend bought me a flower subscription for my birthday — he wanted to support local business and make an event out of picking up the bouquets up each week. The shop is incredibly cute, and the owner is awesome — she’s starting up a garden behind the shop that will eventually produce exotic (more fragile) flowers for weddings and events. She’s also been kind enough to meet me on days that the shop is closed when I’ve forgotten to pick up my subscription. I always leave Pine State feeling happy!

I am now four weeks into my eight week flower subscription and could not be more pleased. Pine State Flowers is a quintessential example of aesthetically pleasing flowers, harvested by all local growers, and exquisitely arranged by Maggie. It epitomizes the Durham ethos.

Pine State Flowers has become my weekly stop for beautiful flowers. What a gem to have in the neighborhood and I am so excited that this shop has gone back to its roots. The interior is a treasure trove of history. The flowers are gorgeous too.

This is an awesome shop in the sweetest little building. It was originally a flower shop in the 30s & it’s open again. They only carry local flowers. For years my mother has sent me flowers through FTD and they’ve sucked, but she just ordered delivery here and it’s big and fresh and beautiful.
