Fantastic neighbourhood spot. Owners are very knowledgable and friendly. Great tap selections and lines are always super clean. One of the best spots in town for a draft beer or carry out.

Ramblers has a great beer and wine selection and the owners are very cool. The taps rotate frequently and Justin keeps the lines cleaned on a regular basis, so you can be assured that you’re enjoying the beer the way it’s meant to be enjoyed.

I stopped into Ramblers this weekend for a pop up barre class and was pleasantly surprised. My first thought was, «Another Durham bottleshop?», but as always I was won over by friendly bartenders and a good selection. Ramblers is located in trendy West Village and I tried to park in the parking garage next door but it wasn’t open so I did have to park in the lot with West End Winebar. The selection is smaller than at other bottleshops but they had some things I haven’t been able to find at other places. They are dog friendly and the owner said they are going to start trying to do more dog events. There are darts to play and also COLORINGBOOKS at the bar. They also have six beers on draft that all looked appealing. I look forward to going back to color and drink beer at the bar with my dog!

Durham’s newest bottle shop, Ramblers, competes with long standing Sam’s Quick Shop as well as a newer establishment Beer Durham, but Ramblers has a long way to go to become more than a neighborhood go to shop. Located on the corner of the the parking garage of Village West, Ramblers is a small, but open space, with lots of natural lighting. A couple bar seats surround a small bar with six tap handles. Along the walls of the bottle shop you’ll find eight metal shelving units filled with a good selection of bottles. The shop also includes a small cooler with bottles and cases to go(everything from Coors Light to local bevies and a few in between. The bottle shop lacks prices on all bottles currently and beers are served in insurance labeled wine glasses. You might have the lights turned off on you during the afternoon, not a problem with all the natural lighting, but I definitely got the feel that they are looking to save money whenever possible. Overall, Ramblers feels like a neighborhood bottle shop, geared at residents living directly downtown, but not fancy enough or with a competitive enough selection to draw in tourists or regulars of other competing shops in the area.

I love Ramblers. It’s cool, laid back, friendly and a fun, relaxing place to go. The owners are very knowledgeable and always make you feel welcome as soon as you go through the door. It’s in a perfect location too. It’s not a sports bar — it’s a more unique place! Highly recommend that you come by to see it. You’ll love it too.

Ramblers is a family owned bottle shop and bar with a huge, excellent selection of beers. The space is a little smaller than some, so they tend to stock the best of what each brewery has to offer. If they happen to be missing something specific you are looking for, which is unlikely, they are more than happy to order it. The staff has always been extremely knowledgeable and friendly, be it one of the owners(who are working 99% of the time) or one of the few other bartenders they have helping out around the shop. There are six taps that are in constant rotation, as well as a list of which kegs are coming up when a tap kicks. Plus, they allow you to buy any singles or six packs and drink it there at no extra charge(of course, you don’t have to drink the whole six pack while you are there). Ramblers definitely has that neighborhood bar vibe. All of the patrons have always been very friendly and social, almost like it’s straight out of Cheers. If you aren’t in the mood to socialize with strangers, there are plenty of tables to work on your laptop or sit with a few friends. Also, they just hung up a couple of dartboards! It’s the perfect place to hang out with friends after work to grab a beer or three. A must for all fans of craft beer!

Ramblers is owned by a polite and charming couple who present one of the most thoughtful collections of beer in the Durham area. Each visit is a learning experience and the setting invites exploration. Located in the heart of downtown Durham, Ramblers attracts a diverse, fun, and energizing clientele.

Great place to hang out! Every time I’ve walked into Ramblers the owner, Justin, has been working. He’s great at what he does and is extremely knowledgable about beers. You can tell he’s excited about his new business and it’s great to see another locally owned, independent business start up. I like this place because it’s low key, laid back, and they carry some great beers. Not to mention its pet friendly! There are 6 rotating beers on draft, a cooler, and racks of different beers to choose from. If you walk in, check out the upcoming events on the chalkboard. Usually they have several breweries lined up to do tastings. There’s also food trucks there most days. Been there 5 or 6 times since they’ve opened and each time has been great. I highly recommend making a visit.

And now, a great place is even better! Ramblers has added wine by the glass. They are also seeing bottled wine, sake, hard cider. I’ve been loving the friendly, relaxed atmosphere of this place since it opened. They really know about beer, and since they use really small kegs(sixtills?) for the taps, there is always something new to drink. Also many bottled beer that Are not offered in the grocery stores. And now the option of dropping in for a glass of wine really me love Ramblers even more. Being located in The Warehouse District of Durham, among apartments and offices may make it a bit tough for people driving in. But for anyone who finds themselves in that district, or Brightleaf Square, check it out. And for those who live in the area — wow! We have a real neighborhood hangout and a great place to get hydrated.

Easy-going proprietor Justin is welcoming, innkeeper style, to road-weary travelers and beer-o-philes alike, he will special order or merely drop knowledge bombs on everything craft. I strongly recommend dropping by for a pint.

Great place with friendly staff and friendly, knowledgeable owner. Bottled and canned beers, and select beers on tap. There are separate men’s and women’s bathrooms. Dogs and kids are welcome. About 3 of the four walls are windows, which really makes the place feel open and connected to the environment. Looking forward to buying beer from here for a long time!
