Stayed here for the first time over the weekend. This is brand new hotel. It is located just off of the East Campus at Duke and within walking distance of downtown Durham. Brightleaf Square is just blocks away. You can ride free transportation to Duke medical center and to Duke’s West Campus and sports venues. The convenience of this hotel’s location to Duke and Durham is a real plus. They also have ample parking at the Inn. The Inn gets a 5 plus for its location. The rooms are the usual Residence Inn layouts with a kitchenette and sitting area. It also is pet friendly. There is a complimentary breakfast with a very attentive staff and a basic bar in the evenings. They have meeting rooms and a very nice media room to watch tv downstairs. They have a pool and a gym as well. These are the pluses. Now for a few words of caution. Make sure your room overlooks Main Street and not the back of the inn. There is a fire pit in the back and you can get drunk patrons yelling at 2AM. I had some clown outside my window yelling into her phone at 1:30AM one night. I also warn you about the drunk undergrads who can frequent the hotel. The Inn is right next to the freshman campus at Duke. As a Duke grad, I don’t want to speak ill of my fellow alums but booze and 18 and 19 year olds don’t mix so don’t say I didn’t warn you if someone outside your room has forgotten what an inside voice is… at 2AM. Shouldn’t stop you from staying there but don’t do it on a fraternity or sorority formal night unless you have earplugs. Other pet peeves, central elevator is incredibly slow. Maid service was fine but they didn’t make our room up until 4PM one day. None of these are deal breakers in terms of staying there. Like I said, this is a new hotel so they need to work out the kinks. When I stay there again, I will update this review. Overall, I give the Inn 3.5 stars.

Only one brand of Scotch. Marriott should step it up the Hilton around the corner had a wider selection of wine, beer. Also where is the desert? Front door from main street was locked and we had to walk around the back to get in.
