Just learned that this downtown location has closed… The couple of times I stopped there I enjoyed some great brews and even on occasion had a nice meal there. Definitely was in a prime spot, and I am curious to see what replaces it. but I know Triangle Brewing will continue to do great things at its regular location…

They appear to offer basic bar food, so I haven’t eaten here. But I’ve visited a few times for a pint or two. I’ve always been partial to Triangle Brewing, and they continue to entice me despite the explosion of local brewery options in recent years. Go-to’s are the Belgian White or Golden. The tap room has conserved much of what predecessor The Roxy left behind. There’s a long bar down the right-hand side of the building, some tables along the opposite wall, and a couple of big booths in the back. The TVs remain, but gone is the pool table. In addition to their own brew, they have a few guest taps. My mom(not a beer drinker) was happy to see Bull City Ciderworks recently among them. Really nice bartender on our recent visit who provided shareable-sized samples and checked on us frequently even though we weren’t seated at the bar. A little sad to see so few people there on a Saturday night… and they closed at midnight. To be honest, it’s kind of nice to have a quieter spot for a beer(when places like The Fed or Fullsteam are crowded, loud, and busy); but I hope the comparatively lethargic scene is not to their detriment!

Very drinkable sours as well as more standard beers. $ 5 lunch specials and a friendly staff make this a good stop for beer nerds in the Raleigh Durham area.

The rumors are true, folks. Processed food and drink have got me down so I’ve decided to damn near obstain. What’s that, you say? Who will show us the best places to imbibe and ingest if I can no longer eat processed deliciousness? No worries. I still can on my cheat day. And so it was, a well deserved respite at the end of a grueling dietary week. I had spent the better half of the afternoon at the Triangle Brewery where I was tipped off to the existence of Best of Both Worlds, a chocolate raspberry stout no longer at the brewery but instead residing at Triangle Pint & Plate. With that, I was a man on a mission. As per the Triangle norm, the service was fast and friendly and prices were in line with what I’ve come to expect for DRM. My veggie burger was well constructed and flavorful and Best of Both Worlds was the proverbial icing on the cake. Very much looking forward to coming back here.

This place was amazing. The brewhouse was awesome. You take a tour with the owner/brewmaster, and get free beers before and after. What else could you ask for? Very cool vibe, and several delicious beers on tap. $ 3/person for the tour, which is supposed to last 2 hours, but actually only took about 35 minutes. The rest of the time the bar is open(with free beers), with the employees walking around more than happy to chat and answer questions. Also, they have a brewpub about 10 minutes away that has great food and beers. Definitely worth taking the tour for

Let me put it this way: if I were a blossoming watermelon rolling around the sweltering streets of Durham, I would probably pick a different venue for having myself chopped open and devoured. Triangle has oceans to cross until their beers become competitive. My friends and I tried a porter, something de flower, and another wheat beer to find all of them very tarty and overly bitter. In fact, these qualities were so pungent that they masked the beers’ more nuanced notes. So, if you like very tart and slightly bitter beers to wipe your sweat off with then be Triangle’s guest, but if you’re a watermelon like myself, you’d probably wait a few years before venturing in.

My husband and I have been here twice now, but just for drinks. I am definitely a fan! We were here both times on a late afternoon and it wasn’t too crowded. They have a long bar and a good number of tables too. They have probably around 10 Triangle beers on draft, including several beers that I don’t think are available anywhere else. They also have all of their regular beers. All of the beers are $ 5, which is very reasonable. I have tried a few of their special beers here, including a lambic and a passionfruit wit which were both very good. I also like the fact that they offer other beers in bottles and they are all beers from North Carolina. They have wooden peg games at the bar and the bartenders are friendly and attentive. They also have food available, including appetizers, salads and sandwiches. We will probably try the food on a future visit. Overall this is a nice place to visit in Durham!

My husband and I stopped in for a beer and to see the place since we have not been since they opened a tasting room/bar. After we walked through the cloud of smokers to get in the door we were not any more impressed with the bar itself. It had an odor, kind of like one of those restaurant/bars that hadn’t been cleaned? Triangle didn’t appear to do much to the place, it looked like an Irish bar on the inside(maybe that was what was previously there? I cannot recall). The beer was alright. I had the Triangle White and it had a funky after taste that the last time I purchased it at a store, it definitely didn’t have. With Fullsteam a few blocks away, we will definitely take our dollar bills there next time.

This is a great place to grab a beer with a friend, relax and hang out. They have a great selection of beers on tap and currently have a habanero beer! Definitely recommending people to check it out! They have several TVs playing sports if you’re interested in that. Some of the tables have this little tic tac toe game that reminds me of the wooden peg game at Cracker Barrel. Seating wise, they have tables with seats near the front and couches towards the back. Atmosphere wise, this place seems very chill although I haven’t been coming to it that often. When I have its either slow with a few patrons or really crowded. Either way, I really like this place and would come more often if I lived closer. If they had food, that would definitely be a game changer.

I’ll give them four stars because I gave Fullsteam four stars. Neither place knocked my socks off, but I only had one beer at each and engaged in some faulty decision making at both. I ordered the Habanero Pale, and I don’t know what I was thinking. It’s not bad, but this kind of stunt beer just isn’t good for an entire pint. I tasted it before I ordered it, so I only have myself to blame. I think I feel bad if I taste a sample and then don’t order it, as if the beer itself will be offended. I’m an idiot. It’s a nice bar, service was friendly and very helpful, and the lady and I were able to carry on a conversation. They call this Triangle Pint and Plate, so I assume they will be serving food at some point in the future, because beer served on plates just tends to slosh over the edges, which is why pint glasses were invented.

This a brewery you and your buddies go to for a quick drink. A little sit down and chat is the vibe I get here. The brewery is getting a kitchen which will make this place a hit more inviting. In the meantime however, enjoy locally brewed beer at its central location on main st.

I have been here twice now and I just love their beers. They have something for everyone and I have tried at least 6 of them now and they have all been really great. My favorites so far are Best of Both Worlds which is a chocolate raspberry coffee stout and Dunken Weizen. But don’t take my word for it, they will let you taste whatever you’d like on tap before you order. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 is because I am not sure I love the atmosphere yet(although is it much better than when it was The Roxy)… but it’s growing on me and the bartenders are very nice. Plus they give you a free bowl of pretzels — can’t complain about that. They don’t have food yet so I can’t comment on that. I would say its good for groups because its not a crazy packed bar so plenty of room for a group. They have a couple of nice tvs above the bar so works well to watch a game as well. With that said… go and try it for yourself!

This has become my new go-to bar in Durham to sit down in the evening and get some reading or school work done over a pint. After a series of mediocre bars in this space(Down Under, The Roxy), Triangle’s Pint and Plate should last a long time. As a long-time attendee at Triangle’s weekly brewery tours, I knew they had a great selection of innovative beers, but I wasn’t prepared for just how many they have on tap at a time. Everything from their Belgian White to their Stout, along with the Belgian Golden, dry-hopped IPA, wet-hopped IPA, habanero pale ale, farmhouse ale, bitter, and assorted seasonals. For those more interested in liquor(something I can’t understand at a brewery’s taproom), they do stock a full bar too. It’s to be expected that there will be a few kinks to work out right after the place opened, but unlike the first reviewer, I’ve had a great experience with the bar staff. Helpful, prompt, attentive. In conclusion, you really can’t go wrong here. You’re supporting a great, environmentally responsible local business that’s played an important part in Durham’s ongoing renewal, and the beer is quite good. And after all the beer I got for free, or near free, at their brewery tours, I figured I owed them anyway.

We went on a Friday in early December after a dinner at Brightleaf Square in a great mood and left really annoyed. The good: The beer was cold and tasty. The male bartender was knowledgeable and attentive when we first walked in. The bad: Service was poor. The female bartenders were too busy chatting it up with their friends at the end of the bar and not paying attention to customers with empty glasses. We weren’t shy about the service being poor — no apologies from the staff, nothing. I don’t know what the arrangement here is, but if this is hired help from Satisfaction(was The Roxy), the brewery should better realize this outsourced staff is tarnishing their good name. As a bartender, you have one job. Otherwise this is just a higher-priced Charlie’s. Unfortunately, we will not be back, and will not be purchasing any Triangle beer in stores because of it.

I went here for the first time this past weekend on a bar crawl. This was the final stop, and we arrived there about 10:15pm. It was quiet when we arrived, just a few people sitting at tables along the wall, and at the bar. We strolled in with about 50 people on a bar crawl and it was crazy! First off, I like the feel of this place. They have couches to your left when you first walk in, and tables along the side wall. The bar is beautiful and there’s a lot of seating alongside it, but still allows room for others to get in and grab a drink. The problem was how narrow it is. With all those people we brought in, it got very hard to move around the place. There is a very narrow walkway, so once you pick your place, that is where you stay. Getting to the bathroom was a challenge, having to push past so many people, who didn’t really have any place to go to move out of the way. There were about 10 Triangle Beers on tap at the bar, and they offer bottles of other breweries, if you’d rather. I started with the specialty cask, which was a dry hopped IPA, and it was really great. I also had their Habanero Pale Ale, which was surprisingly really good. It wasn’t too spicy, but had a kick at the end. Definitely a must try if you are experiencing Triangle Brewery Beers for the first time. This bar has a very relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. I would recommend it to anyone looking to kick back, relax and enjoy a few cold ones with friends.
