This a large beautiful park with many nice hiking trails and cool historic buildings. But what is up with all the litter? People leave half their wardrobe along the river and trash the place with other crap too. I didn’t think overnight camping was allowed here but the last time I went 3 dudes who seemed high on something and appeared to be living under the bridge, started talking to me and my friends. I got a little scared but they were decent. I would have been more scared if I’d been by myself. I wish there were rangers here who walked around regularly.

A beautiful, wooded park that provided the backdrop for mine & my dog, Milo’s pictures yesterday. On a lovely, pre-summer day around 9AM, the park wasn’t quite busy, but had folks milling about setting up «camp.» Others were hiking & walking. There are a few old barn-type looking buildings, plenty of picnic tables & a beautiful, rustic bridge. Natural brooks & streams give the park lots of charm. Plenty of parking. Can’t wait to come back & explore!

I should not review this place for fear that too many people will visit and it will become overcrowded! But oh well. This park is awesome: it’s in the city, but it feels way remote. You can do some hiking, some creek swimming, some tubing, some picnicking, some ball-tossing, some music playing, some trail running, ANYTHING. There is so much space here for anything you might want to do. Came here with a group of friends and we sat out on the rocks and drank a few beers and had some snacks. I WISH I had known to bring a suit so I could have swum. You better pack out what you packed in, however, or those kids who go to the Nicholas School of the Environment will haunt you! They are EVERYWHEREHEREAHHHHH! jk.

When I can’t make the 3 hour trip to the beach, this access to the Eno will do in a pinch in the dog days of summer. I take my camp chair, a good book, and literally sit in the river. My dear husband prowls around with his camera– there’s always cute snakes to snap! Decent trails, for those ambulatory, and the old grist mill is shady and cool. Bring a picnic and youre all set!

This unique local park combines walking trails and boat rentals with a photography museum, a replica of an old blacksmith shop, a nineteenth-century farm house and a restored mill, whose original building was built in 1778. The mill is particularly interesting; it’s open from 1 – 5 Saturday and Sunday, March-December. They still grind corn meal and flour here, and the friendly staff will explain to you how everything works. Sadly, they were out of grits today, but if you’re lucky, there will be some in stock when you come. They often have educational programs and craft demonstrations at the park — it’s a very pleasant place to spend a sunny day.
