I really wanted this place to be wonderful but was sadly disappointed. The major disappointment was my pastrami sandwich. I ordered a large and the portion was substantial. The bun was fresh and tasty. The swiss cheese was OK. The«pastrami» was somehow processed to resemble something like a cross between firm, flavorless, bologna, and cold, moist cardboard. Maybe it was dried tofu pastrami? One thinks«pastrami» and«deli» and the expectation is vastly different. On the bright side, my dog will probably be able to eat the half of a sandwich that I couldn’t eat. After all, she eats horse poop. My wife had a turkey and swiss that she reported as being very good, «like Subway». The eating area is a large deck overlooking the beach and marina. Dogs are allowed on the deck. We came to the campground just to try Beach Hut Deli so we didn’t have to pay the park entrance fee or the dog fee. The people working here were cheery and efficient, I just wish they had warned me about the«pastrami-like substance».

This is quite possibly the first Beach Hut Deli that is actually a hut on a beach and not just a retail space in a strip mall. Someone had a great idea when they decided to locate Beach Hut on a beach at a popular lake with a nearby dock for boat access. Considering there are few food options around and the tendency to develop a substantial appetite while engaging in water activities, I would expect this place to maintain a brisk business throughout the season. I wasn’t aware of the Beach Hut location so it came up on me like a mirage in the desert as we round the curve into this cove. I weighed out my options between the half soggy Togo’s sandwich in the ice chest or a fresh sandwich from Beach Hut and quickly determined there really never was an option. We took our sandwiches to go, but I did notice there is a very nice dining deck looking out over the beach and lake. Another plus is that you can call you order in and with a quick pick up, be right back out on the lake. Good call on this one Beach Hut; one more reason you’re the king in the local sandwich market.
