This is a fun place to come hang out and have a couple pints. They hide themselves well – they’re in a small mall on the south side of the street, but they’re the only place on the ground floor. It’s hard to tell they’re there; the sign is obscured from the street. They’re just up the hill from the thai place; you park in the lot up the hill, though, and walk down the stairs to the front door. It’s tiny – just a few stools and a bar, and then a minuscule brewhouse. They brew on what is essentially a giant homebrew system – it’s just barely big enough for commercial work. They can make a couple kegs each time they brew. They make both ales and lagers here. The locals have pounced on this place. The owners have a family and day jobs, and can only open when their own schedules permit. They post to Facebook when they figure out some opening hours, and leave a sandwich board by the main road. They stay open as long as they have beer. The beers here are on the sweet side. They tend to have a lot of heavy malts that gives them a rich, bread-like quality. They’re not bad, but they definitely steer toward a specific flavor profile, even in different styles. I’d come back for another visit… but it’s true that I like beer more than most people.
