A few months ago my fiancé and I adopted a rescue who had been in an abusive situation with a dog hoarder. She was incredibly shy and frightened of everything. Over those first few months she made a lot of progress, but it was totally limited to inside our house and our back yard. That was her comfort zone. Whenever we even reached for a leash she bolted, we couldn’t get near her with it. If we snuck up on her with the leash she would just freeze and not move an inch. She was terrified of leashes. We were really feeling hopeless because being able to walk a dog is important for health and for bonding with its humans. On a recommendation from an acquaintance we called Erin. We initially asked about having Terra stay with her for a week which is an option listed on her website. But Erin said with fearful dogs it’s better to work in their own home where they feel comfortable. To honest I was skeptical that she could do much considering how psychologically damaged Terra was. She came on a Sunday afternoon. It was incredible to watch her slowly gain Terra’s trust. She stayed for 3 hours and incredibly for the last hour or so Erin and my fiancé were walking Terra in the back yard on a leash. We figured that was enough for one day, so we arranged to have her come back the following week. That visit was just over an hour and at the end of it we were walking her outside at a park. I was pretty blown away. So to sum up, Erin is very good at what she does. You can see how much she loves dogs. She has emailed several times asking how Terra is doing. Her fees to come out to our house were very reasonable. If you’re having any issues with your dog I highly recommend her.
