Had a great outing today with Matt. Loads of fun, knowledgeable and seems like he genuinely loves what he does. Fishing was great and so was the experience!

Matt is an excellent skipper and runs a top notch charter. He is genuine and cares about your experience.
Fishing is a gamble, results are not guaranteed, nobody in this game bats 1000. Matt is a tough competitor and a fun humerus fellow. Seattle offers excellent fishing, and like most places slow fishing at times.
What you should be looking for in a Seattle fishing charter is a company that you will get a 100% effort from, not a half hearted try. You will find that here with Tyee Charters.

One of the best times I’ve ever had out on a charter boat. Even if we didn’t catch fish, this would have been a great day. Matt, the captain really knows his stuff and is an avid fisherman. He was almost just as excited as we were with each fish we caught. We went on the boat in the afternoon for about a 4 hour trip and caught 4 keeper salmon (2 Chinook and 2 Coho. One above 20lbs) and probably got another 4 or 5 salmon that were too short.
Matt’s fishing boat was nice. The inside was comfortable for when we were driving out and back. His fishing equipment was excellent as well. He had tackle and gear to cover all situations. When we started he quickly rigged up 4 rods all using different techniques to see which one would be the most effective. As the fish started hitting he would change the set up of the rods to the most effective technique and caught us more fish this way.
After the trip he filleted up the fish for us nicely and bagged them up for us. We had a huge dinner later that night. Nothing is better than fresh salmon. I would highly recommend this charter. Even just being out on the Puget sound without fishing is a great experience. There were great views of downtown Seattle, we saw some dolphins and bald eagles as well. I am an avid fisherman and have fished my whole life and I have been on many charters in the past and this was by far one of the best experiences.

I’ve planned two trips with Tyee Charters. The first trip, three years ago, was great –
. We had a great time, caught fish, and I enjoyed talking with Matt, the owner and captain. However, our second (attempted) trip was a complete FUBAR. Matt apparently wrote down my email address wrong, and then gave our spot away. My brother and I didn’t figure this out until 4:30 am that morning, when we were actually driving to meet him. That could all be put down to bad luck (though I suspect disorganization also played its part), but what really grated on me was Matt’s attitude. He was completely unapologetic, had no suggestions for how to make it right, and kept trying to imply that it was my fault. One star for horrible customer service. There are lots of charter services in Seattle — my strong recommendation is to use someone else. No point in hanging out on the water with someone who treats customers that way.
