I have been dealing with Mennorhagia(also known as Heavy Monthly Bleeding or HMB) for several years now. I was told that I should have a hysterectomy, but just can’t take the time away from work to recover from surgery– so I have just been dealing with it. Finally this year I decided it was time to do something, especially when I heard about Rocky Mountain Gyn & Hormone Center(RMGH). My best friend was also in need of some help, so we went together for a consult. I had a general idea of what Novasure(endometrial ablation) was, but didn’t know how the process worked. Used to dealing witty gynecologists in mainstream clinics, I went in prepared to be herded like cattle, talked to like I was stupid and just shuffled into the system for my procedure. I was amazingly surprised and delighted when I arrived at RMGH for my consult. From the moment I walked through the door I felt valuable and cared for. Every question was answered, every concern addressed, and when I left that day I knew I was a candidate for Novasure and that I’d hear in a day or so if my insurance would cover it. When I got my approval I was told up front what my portion to pay would be, I was able to schedule both my pre-op appointment and my Novasure procedure. That appointment went well, another great example of the care shown by the folks at RMGH– and next week I will have my procedure. People will say that RMGH is just in it to get as much money as possible, and while you may pay more out of pocket to go there, I promise you there is nothing impersonal, rushed or unnecessary about the services they provide. Endometrial Ablation has come a long way since I first heard about the procedure. You may have heard from women who said it didn’t work for them, or that recovery took a week or more– but I’ll bet if you ask you’ll be told that they did not have any kind of testing before the procedure, and/or that other things, such as a D&C were done at the same time. Those are both reasons for the ablation not to be as effective and for recovery to take more than a couple of days. I will post an update after my procedure, but to this point I can’t recommend RMGH more. From Asia and the others at the reception desk, to Kelly, Nicole, Jackie and Dr. Simon– the atmosphere is warm, friendly and welcoming. Kelly will just about bend over backwards to be sure patients understand the process and procedure, and if ablation isn’t for you, she can offer suggestions of great providers who handle hysterectomies. The folks at RMGH also help with hormonal issues, I will be going back after my Novasure to get help making sure my hormones are doing what they should be doing. No middle age woman should have to suffer through acne or other symptoms of hormone imbalance! I’m glad to know that I have a great place to turn to when it comes time to deal with that issue as well!
