This is a lovely shop with a large selection of yarn displayed in antique cases. There is a good selection of books and pattern booklets, as well as shop samples of various types. When I visited, the owner was there, and she was very friendly and welcoming, and helped me select yarn for a project. As I debated the amount of yarn I would need for a project, she said that if I needed more, I could call, and she would be happy to ship it out to me. The only thing that I did not like about this shop is that the skeins are not priced — there are handwritten tags on the bins. Some of the tags have prices, but not all of them.

This place could be a knitter’s dream, if only the owner wasn’t so cold shouldered and arrogant. I have sent several friends there, because honestly, there is no place that has her amazing inventory, but they all come back with the same feeling that she was nasty and«put off» by their inquires. It’s her loss as these ladies were willing to spend $$$ to get fine quality yarn with a little guidance, but left with nothing due to her poor customer service. I’m done sending people there.

If you’re serious about fiber, whether for knitting or crocheting, this is this the place to be in Western New York. The selection is outstanding and the prices are quite reasonable(ranging from $ 3 clearance skeins up to beautiful luxury yarns in the $ 25 range. The staff is also extremely knowledgable – which is helpful, because the sheer volume of choice means that the store can be slightly overwhelming(especially if you’re in any kind of a hurry and just want to find what you need). The store itself is lovely, with yarn housed in antique built-in cabinets, featuring glass front drawers. From wooden baskets and boxes on the floor and tables all the way up to the ceiling of this(I’d say) early 1900s building, yarn is ALL you see!

Just visited first time today — negative experience overall. Nice variety of yarns, friendly staff, somewhat crowded with merchandise. None of the yarn is individually priced — no price tags on any skeins at all. When I looked at the clipboards hanging nearby, with papers that listed yarns and prices alphabetically, I couldn’t find the yarn brand/line I wanted. I asked a staff for price of something I really liked(Sublime Yarns merino/silk/cashmere), a friendly staff person said $ 10.50. When I was at the cash register paying for this yarn, I was charged $ 12.50 by the same staff person who misquoted me earlier. She said, «Sorry!» and that was that. Very disappointing, unlikely I’ll visit again anytime soon.

The Woolly Lamb is heaven! All that soft, plush yarn! Any yarn, any brand, any style — they have it. This is high quality yarn that you won’t find in any craft store. The workers there are nice and friendly. If you see a finished project laying about, they can tell you exactly where they found the pattern and hand it to you. They have examples of every stitch, style, and yarn. The yarn can be pricey, but that is to be expected. The Woolly Lamb is tailored towards knitting enthusiasts. But that’s not said to scare off newbies. They do have classes and a knitting group night. It’s a lot of fun. I’m just a kitten — a ball of yarn is my best friend!
