Firefly

I will never rent a car from this company again, and furthermore will be lodging a complaint against them, and possibly Hertz. My experience has been similar to the previous reviewer’s.
I rented an economy car online, showed up at the Logan Airport Firefly counter after a long day of travel with my five year old son, and was asked if I wanted to upgrade. I repeatedly said ‘no’, the car I rented is fine, I do not want to pay any extra. The woman said, I’m going to put you in a Mazda, is that ok, I said sure, it doesn’t matter, not thinking that this was the upgrade I had said ‘no’ to, more than once.
I asked, just to make sure, how much it was going to cost, and she quoted me the price, pre-​tax and fees, so I thought I was getting the same deal I had reserved.
Not until looking at my credit card statement yesterday, seeing that the amount was $ 64 higher than my reservation, and calling Hertz (Hertz owns Firefly) to find out why, did I realize that I had in fact been charged for the upgrade that I had said no to.
Now they’ve put me through to the Logan Firefly desk, I’ve left messages, I’ve emailed, and I’ve heard nothing. Hertz says they can’t help, even though they are the parent company.
I know it is the job of the sales person to upsell the better car, and to sell ad ons like insurance, etc, which is fine, but when you do it in a way that deceives the customer, you have crossed a line.
The topper is that the car was about as economy as it gets. Tiny Mazda with no extras, so not even sure how this can be called an upgrade.
Shame on Hertz for not stepping up to help people who have been ripped off by a company that they own. My credit card statement reads Hertz Rental Car, not Firefly, so we know where the buck stops.
