I love this market! I head there every Friday morning to grab some strawberries, cherries, pastries and vegetables. There’s also a fair trade coffee stand, honey stand, hot sauce stand and much much more.

Not just produce here! Of course all your fruits and veggies are available, but that’s just where this local farmers market begins. Multiple varying product booths await your arrival. Grab some kettle corn as you browse the trinkets. A quick slice of pizza or some soup and wash it down with some herbal tea or coco or fresh juice. The soap booth for you dirty sorts. Pick a pickle. Grab some cookies and a apple cider and a container of sauce or premade delight’s. Go nuts. Meat options And don’t forget a fresh maple syrup container along with maple sugar cotton candy. For the full list of frequent vendors check their website. Keep in mind that they they do change and will not all be in attendance every week. Stay green with Rutger red at the farmers market.

One of the many perks of getting to work from home on certain Fridays is that it coincides with the weekly Rutgers Garden Farm Market. I’m so happy that East Brunswick finally came around to doing something like this because people love it and there’s lots of good, fresh, homemade eats to be found here. I only have two gripes. One — they don’t typically rotate new vendors in, so it’s always the same people week after week. And two — there is no place to sit down and enjoy the foods you’re purchasing.(Seriously, get a few picnic tables, RU.) Here are some of my favorite vendors: Camella Sauces — If there’s only one reason for you to make a trip here, it’s to sample the amazing Italian sauces at this stand. The vodka sauce is up there with the best I ever had. And while a quart of sauce can be on the pricey side, it’s well worth every penny. The Farmer & the Chickpea — Here’s your chance to fall in love with kale if you haven’t already. Specialities include a chickpea/kale/parmagiano-reggiano pie, cauliflower-quinoa stuffed portabellos, vegetarian Shepherd’s Pies, and an assortment of meat and cheese pies, sausage and pepperoni included. Tico’s — You know me and my love for all greens juiced. Well, the one thing I enjoy more than juicing at home is paying someone to juice for me. Tico’s has a wide selection of juices, and my personal favorite is the Green Machine. There’s lots of other great vendors here. You can view the full list here: If you a plan a trip here, be sure to give yourself a few hours so you can check out the actual Rutgers Gardens, which are gorgeous and fun to hike through. It’s a great way to spend a Friday afternoon.
