Alterations by Pat

I absolutely LOVE this place! Pat is the sweetest lady ever, and I am so, so glad I came across her shop on Unilocal!I lost 20 lbs before my wedding after I bought my dress and she totally rehauled this dress for me. It is INCREDIBLE!!! Her prices are equally amazing (so much so I brought in multiple other pieces for her to alter now that I lost so much weight). You will not go wrong at all bringing your clothing to her. I asked her before she altered my dress about her experience, and she has been doing alterations since she was a teenager, so she has been doing this for many years now. I never once felt stressed out about this aspect of wedding planning. I live in Boston now, and would totally make the drive down just for alterations!

Pat is the sweetest woman ever!!! I started going here when I was living down in New Bedford and still drive down there even though I now live in Somerville. Every garment is always perfect, ready quickly, and you will not find lower prices. I probably have worn out my «omg i need these pants this weekend can you please hem them while I wait??“s but she’s always very gracious and does a hem while I wait whenever she can. It’s also adorable that it’s her and her daughter and daughter’s best friend that are the only ones that work there. You just don’t see too many Mom n Pop businesses any more. I’m always happy to support local businesses :).

I really like to support local small businesses. In desperate need of altering my bridesmaid dress, I looked at places around my home at first. Alterations by Pat got good reviews through a general Google search, so I decided to give them a call.
The voicemail said the shop would be closed because they were on vacation. I left a message anyway since it was no problem; the wedding was a month away. I called when they got back (with a few days of buffer, cause you never know…), heard the same voicemail, and left another message. I called, yet again, two days later, and the phone just rang and rang.
I’m not sure what’s up with this place, and I can’t speak to the quality of the alterations, but a simple call back (even to say they were too busy to work on my dress) would have been appreciated. Instead, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.
