Great food and amazing cocktail menu! I have been here during the summer and it was fantastic, great energy, quick service and incredible food at decent prices… thats hard to find out in the hamptons. I couldn’t imagine the same would be true on the off season. Well done Highway. I had home made hummus, a lentil salad and a perfect pasta: Buggatini with sausage. My husband had kale salad and rib eye(of course), and we shared the pork buns because we couldn’t resist. SOGOOD. Look forward to coming back lots this summer!

Our new favorite, local restaurant out east. Inventive, fresh, delicious cuisine and excellent, warm service by the whole staff. This perennially faltering space has been transformed into a cozy, chic, welcoming bar and restaurant with a delightful, professional staff led by Henri & Adam. Everyone we bring here is beyond impressed and can’t wait to return, including us. Thanks for a great time last night, as always!

Went back last night and we were treated very rudely by the manager, Adam. Came early at 5pm with our friends from out of town. We asked not to be seated in the bar area since last time it was very loud and annoying. Adam looked at us blankly, and had the nerve to say«the volume is the same all over the restaurant.» He begrudgingly seated us in the front area, and gave us a cock and bull story about another group of 6 coming that night. The restaurant remained empty for the duration of our visit. They should be grateful that we are patronizing their restaurant in the winter time. Instead, they made us feel unwelcome. Sorry Highway Diner, I’m done with you.

This location has had much turnover, and we are always happy to try the newest version because it is 5 minutes from our house. The new owners have sunk some money to transform the place, but it is still on the side of the highway, with no water views, is not within walking distance of village stores, and has no trendy beautiful crowd. I say all this because the food here is very good. However, the menu for lunch is too expensive with items like linguine in clams for $ 27 and lobster roll for $ 27. These items would be fine except that there are too few salad or sandwich options at a more normal $ 12 – 20, making these expensive choices the only ones. The $ 12 kids menu is a welcome relief however, with a homemade pasta and butter that my son raved about. I like this place but its too expensive to be a regular drop in place, and the location simply does not afford the lofty ambitions that the owners here are after. Perhaps the situation is different at dinner? We will have to come back and try.

Horrible burger. They call it a «classic cheeseburger». I ordered it medium and it comes out charred to a crisp. I send it back and the manager tells me that’s how they prepare a burger and asked me if I want something else. I then ordered the chicken, it was just okay, when the check comes they charge me full price for the more expensive chi ken which I waited 15 minutes for after my family had their food. Pour experience

Had a wonderful dinner last weekend. Best lamb chops I’ve ever had. Pork bun appetizer was equally wonderful. Next time I’ll order two since my wife«tasted» mine. Service was professional and excellent. Great addition to the boring local food scene.

What happened to the diner? Well, the new place is quite nice. My parents and I had a relaxing dinner tonight and our entrees were warm and soothing. The cheese burger, boulibase, and chicken pot pie were perfectly sized portions, but also great for sharing. This place is great!

Lunch yesterday was a disaster. Place was empty when our party of four arrived but they seated a party with children and baby’s right next to us. Lobster rolls had no discernible lobster content. Service matched the food, atrocious. Prices were equally outrageous.

This place is worth a detour just to not even drive past it! Food was EXPENSIVE, cold, salty and flavorless all with the addition of painfully slow service. The managers were wearing shirts that were untucked, wrinkled– so wrinkled they looked like they’d just come out of the dirty clothes hamper. Not much more could be said for the servers… I mean, I understand ‘casual atmosphere’, but lets at least break out the iron once a month or so. Will never go back and neither should you! Rubbish!

First of all, this restaurant is the newest iteration of a space that’s turned over at least 6 times in the last 12 years. Any reviews prior to Spring 2015 refer to prior attempts. The new Highway is excellent and should be here for the long haul. The space has been gently renovated to improve sound levels, warm up the ambience, and feel more upscale. The personnel seem all to like being there and it shows! It’s my understanding there’s some affiliation with one of Manhattan’s top tier restaurants which probably accounts for the attention to detail in service and food. Had dinner most recently at the bar, and I can only say the veal chop… beautifully charred and exceptionally tender, was far and away the best I’ve ever had. The accompanying pasta side could use more oomph, but all in all a great meal at an un-Hapmptons $ 33. My wife had the linguine with clams and was sorry she hadn’t ordered the larger portion, and we shared a kale salad, always a hit or miss, but here a resounding hit. Like this restaurant a lot and expect it to become a staple in the area.

I had the pleasure of dining here tonight at the newly revamped Highway restaurant. The décor and ambiance is beautiful inside. The outside of the restaurant needs some improvements to help the curb appeal but do not be deterred! This is one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! I ordered the potato wrapped red snapper on the recommendation of our very friendly and attentive waiter Steven, it was amazing! My mother in law had the eggplant parm sliced very thin with a nice crusty breading on top just how I like it! My friend ordered the applewood smoked salmon which was also excellent. The calamari was very good, lightly breaded and not chewy at all with a wonderful creamy scallion dipping sauce. Be sure to save room for dessert, the ice cream is home made! I’ve eaten at almost every restaurant in the hamptons and I have to admit the quality of food and service here is right up to par with some of the best of them but with a much lower price tag. Sure to be a big hit this season!

Unilocal, you should really create a new entry for the re-branded Highway Restaurant and Bar — it’s light years better than the old Highway Diner(which I thought was fine, but nothing special). We had dinner there last night and it was outstanding. My fiancé had the salmon, and I had the eggplant parmagiana — both delicious! The highlight of the meal(which our server suggested) was the mint, quinoa and pea side dish. I’d have likely not ordered it absent the recommendation, but it was absolutely outstanding — much heartier and more flavorful than I could have imagined. They’ve also redone the space and it is much cozier and more inviting than before. We’ll definitely be coming back.

Wow! Not even a day before my post of The Highway Restaurant and Bar was sabotaged! So then you know how great this restaurant is… the best food on the east end hands down! The steamed pork buns are the best you will ever have!

We were in town visiting and the Unilocal reviews of restaurants in area during the off season were not drawing us in. We drove by the Highway and my husband pointed it out. There were a decent number of diners, a nice looking bar with a football and soccer game playing on separate tvs above the bar. For lack of other options we turned around and pulled in. The restaurant is no longer a pop up sushi bar. They have a rustic, log cabin barn feel but updated, trendy and cozy with a touch of their diner roots. We chose to sit at the bar to catch the soccer game. I was pleasantly surprised at the menu offerings. I work in the natural foods industry and live the lifestyle so I am always happy to find something that makes me happy and my husband who is a burger guy. This particular evening they had a prix fixe menu. I had the kale salad with radish and carrots and the salmon. My husband had the chicken soup and the pasta bolognese. A beverage of choice(beer, wine, liquor) and a dessert were also included. We had an amazing experience. The kale salad is large and I took half home. The salmon was cooked perfectly medium. My husband’s chicken. Soup was like our grandmothers had made it and his pasta was perfect. All food was delicious. Additionally, the staff was amazing. Tim the bartender was also our server and was the perfect everything. Great server, great bartender and an overall interesting person to talk to. We also had Brendan working the bar and again a very interesting and engaging guy. Tip notch service from both. We do not make it to the Hamptons often but I travel a lot for work and The Highway has renewed my faith in dining out. World Class service, amazing food and great ambiance. We had a perfect night! We wish you guys a ton of luck although you most likely won’t need it. And we will definitely be back!

Highway Restaurant and Bar re-do is awesome — have been there 2 times since the re-opening and the food is fantastic. Please patron it so they stay open in the off-season as well as the summer season. The salads are wonderful and bountiful with plenty of interesting fresh ingredients and flavors. Salmon and roasted chicken were delicious. They should have a facebook page for a friends following and advertise more — Happy Hour 4 – 6 and prix fix Wed– Fri(think they should do the prix fix on Sundays)

Restaurant is adorable and ambiance is nice, but the service leaves A LOT to be desired. Friendly but extremely inattentive. Been here twice and both times they’ve forgotten our entrees.
