This place is a joke. I’ve been going to The Springs General Store for 30+ years. I’m incredibly disappointed in the quality and service in recent months. Just received a blueberry muffin with not more that 3 blueberries. Incredibly frustrating. I also ordered a cream cheese bagel, specifically asked for the softest bagel, and received a rock hard, mouth cutting, teeth breaking bagel. It was purchased at 8:30am. Can’t say I’m anxious to go back. Will spend my $$ elsewhere.

Talk about taking advantage of the community, $ 4.50 for a Flagel with butter? Total ripoff

My husband and I are rented a double kayak here but didn’t have any of the food. We were cheerfully greeted by one of the employees and then we’re given some instructions, a map and release forms. Someone took us out to a shed to give us life vests and paddles and we headed to the back where the lake was, hopped in the kayak and one of the employees pushed us out in the water. Weather was perfect and the scenery beautiful. When we returned and went in to return the map we thought they’d charge us for the several minutes it took to dock and put all the equipment back. When we went back in the only question we were asked was, «So, did you have fun?». Love how laid back the place is. All the customers that were in there looked like regulars since the conversations seemed very natural and if they weren’t you could never tell.

Love this place. Pleasant staff. Good sandwiches. Hit it before the beach and grab your lunch to go or grab a great cup of coffee in the morning. Highly recommended.

Great place food down the street from the Jackson Pollock tour. We were waiting for our tour time and stopped by here for lunch. Great cat named Whiskey greeted us at the door… we split a hamburger made to order and I must say it was quite good with home made pickles. Sat out front on rockers and it was quite lovely.

A solid 1 on a scale of 1 – 10 and I am being generous. Yes it is a charming old-timey atmosphere but my simple breakfast sandwich was a grossly overcooked leathery egg, black with burnt griddle grease, and a piece of incinerated bacon on unnecessarily thick-cut rye toast. Unappetizing and inedible. Maybe they were having an off day but I can’t imagine what would get me back there to find out.

This place is way better since the new lady took over. Pretty good food and not as overpriced as the competition. Good coffee too.

What a gem. I mean, for heaven’s sake, it’s a General Store. They serve local produce, pastrami reubens, and wd-40, and they rent kayaks. They have beautiful pastries delivered long before the sun to satisfy the tummies of old men and older men alike, who sit, the way old men have always sat, on the front porch of the Store, sipping any of a dozen flavors of coffee available. My favorite thing is to get up early, dress like an old man, grab a paper and sip coffee on the front porch, slowly nibbling at something buttery. I like learning about world conflict watching stern people buy egg sandwiches, and pretty, underfed mothers grin at each other and discuss their children and the upcoming weekend’s parties.

Came here on a Zozi deal with a meetup group. Unfortunately the group’s leader failed to coordinate with the owner as the website offered Single Kayaks, but there weren’t enough of them to go around. Nevertheless, I was able to squeeze into a second session and had a blast for $ 30. Note that that’s really the cost of the pretty good lunch you’re going to get: any sandwich from their menu, chips, cookie, fruit. There isn’t a staff member to guide you along the Accabonac Harbor and as us adventurous types — we went beyond the map that was given to us, without a tow rope and any additional safety equipment. What saves us is the fact that the general area is inhabited by locals with their own kayaks and people who are relaxing along the secluded beaches.

An oasis of charm and great baking and cooking in Springs. The rocking chairs on the front porch invite you to sit, rock and relax. The old gas pumps out front root you in the history of this wonderful town. Kids are welcome, so are dogs. Go sit out back and gaze at Accabonac Harbor and share Jackson Pollock’s view. If you are looking for fancy Manhattan furnishings(and matching prices!) then this is not the place for you. But if you want to kick back, relax, eat some delicious food(love the cookies!), drink some delicious coffee and chat with friends and family, then Springs General Store is a must visit. And many of us come back every weekend!

When my friend set out to run a 5k in the Hamptons and accidentally ended up running the half marathon, I found myself with some time on my hands. Having been up since 6:15 a.m., I decided to go on a hunt for some coffee and ended up at the Springs General Store. I felt like I left East Hampton and was transplanted into another place and era, making a trip to the hub of village life with Nellie Oleson’s father behind the register. The décor is so basic and practical in a non-Disneyfied way that it’s almost town & country quaint. Self-serve coffee area(are they not aware that I’ve been up since 6?!) with the best organic coffee I’ve ever had. A counter to order your typical assortment of bagels and breakfast sandwiches. A steady stream of moms and couples and familes strolling in and out. Truly a local vibe where men compared just completed marathon times, people seemed to be running into people they knew, and moms chatted with the saleswoman about kids and soccer games. Then my super amazing friend rolled in after completing her official 5k and unofficial half marathon in 1:43. We sat outside on the front porch in two of the Adirondack chairs, savoring our coffee on the most perfect of sunny fall Saturdays.

Kristi is the talented and friendly proprietor at the Springs General Store. Great prepared food and wonderful baked goods. Stop by for a morning bagel or croissant and eggs and some delicious Hampton coffee and stay for a chat with her or the other regulars at this spot that attracts everyone from artists to businessmen to local moms and yuppies out for the weekend. It was a regular haunt of many Abstract Expressionists including Jackson Pollock who traded a painting for his tab many years ago.(Alas the painting is long gone and now hangs in the Centre Pompidou in Paris) But many other artists still make this a gathering spot. Bring the kids and sit on a rocker on the front porch, feed the ducks or go kayaking in Accabonac Harbor out back.

This place is an institution. According to local legend, Jackson Pollock was a customer of the Springs General Store back in the day. Built in 1844, the General Store is the place to go in the Springs for breakfast, lunch, dinner, pastries and desserts, all available in a non-trendy, un-Hamptons-like setting with picnic tables on the shores of Gardiner’s Bay. Best of all, the General Store also rents kayaks($ 25/hour for a single; $ 35/hour for doubles) for those who want to explore Acabonnac Creek, which flows right out the back door, literally. No word on whether the famed artist kayaked in these parts. But after a pleasurable hour paddling from the store to the nearby deserted beaches, I wouldn’t be surprised if Jax did.

The venerable Springs General Store remains the place to go on the weekends for an egg sandwich, coffee and newspaper. Great baked goods, too. Looking for authenticity in the midst of the Hamptons? This is it!
