Maybe because it’s getting off its feet(it’s been only a few months) but I had higher expectations for Kasutamu. It’s a bit pricey for the roll quality, and although the concept is very original and somewhat new to the Grand River area(the other build your own sushi place is Tamaki a couple blocks down) the overall atmosphere is a bit lacking. It is very clean inside, and one plus is that it is open way late — the location is PRIME for bar goers! I’m staying optimistic and will be back to experiment again… sushi might not be the most standard drunk food but I think there’s potential :)

While I do think Kasutamu is a great idea and worth trying, I do not think it compares to Sushiya and definitely not to Sansu. The late hours are really great and the $ 8.99 make your own roll is a good idea. I’ve visited Kasutamu twice and both visits I’d rate a 3⁄5. Not bad by any means but not the best.
