The donuts and coffee are better than Dunkin Donuts any day! The drive through is also great when you need things faster. I can only give 4 stars however as they only accept cash. There have been several occasions where I wanted to come here but only had plastic on me — forcing me to go to DD down the street.

The first time I went here, it blew my expectations for donuts out of the water. Gone was my favor of Dunkin Donuts. Splitting a six-​pack of these bad boys sure makes a morning great. The breakfast sandwich I got another time was just as good too.

You have not lived until you have had their apple cider donut. Cute storefront and a fantastic staff. Come prepared, they are cash only. It is worth the stop at the ATM though. The donuts are some of the best that we have had. A must try!

Love love love! I’m from the south, but come to the area each year to visit family. We have been getting bagels and donuts from here since we were little. Bagels are so soft! Not at all what I’m used to. So many flavors and choices to choose from!

Not much to say about Flanders because I have no criticism. They have some devilishly delicious baked goods — they have an apple strudel that is just amazing, as well as an almond coffee cake that can only be described as brilliant. Their bagels are good, and their donuts are some of the best I’ve had in the state. Not only the taste, but the price is great, too. I would stop in here any time I’m in the area. I’d even consider a bit of a detour just to swing by.

The fact that I got the donuts in the afternoon and saved them until the following morning may have some bearing on me thinking they were nothing special. Tried the apple cider, coconut and crumble. Tasted like most other average donuts.

I am happy to give Flanders Donuts it’s five stars, it deserves it. Consistently good, hard working, blue collar people putting out great donuts and bagels and pastry day in and out. I think that this is one of those old school place that if you live in Niantic you take for granted but if it ever closed it would be like loosing an old friend, it is a real gem. My favorites are the cheese danish and the apple fritter and the apple strudel that is always sitting on top of the counter. I know this sound odd but the coffee is bad, it always has been, watery, hot as hell but I get a large cup every time I go, plain white styrofoam, cheap plastic top. It reminds me of the Narragansett beer I used to steel from my father when i was a kid. Just get a cup when you go, you’ll see what I mean. When I get a donut or a danish I have to have that coffee with it. This is a must go and don’t go through the new drive through, go inside.

Maybe in New England delicious bagels are not that hard to find, but compared to where I am from down south, the bagels at Flanders were incredible. Perfect texture, perfect taste, and amazing flavor choices. I had the spinach garlic bagel with cream cheese. Outstanding! I love that the bakery products are made on site, you can really tell how fresh everything is. The apple cider donut was also a tasty treat.

I stayed at Camp Niantic for a brief training period, and while I was there I discovered Flanders Donut Bagel, and Bake Shop!
One of the better places to get donuts in Connecticut. I did not try their coffee, but I’ve heard that it is excellent.
If you have never been here before, then it is worth checking out for yourself!

Love their donuts! They are fresh, soft, and huge! There’s normally a line when we’ve gone to get donuts, but worth it and very inexpensive. Cash only place.

Love this place! My family gets cakes here for everyone’s birthday! The vanilla frosting is just so good I could eat a plate full of it!!!

Based upon positive reviews, I decided to see what all the hoopla was about. I walked in and asked the woman behind the counter if they offered a discount for my checking in on Unilocal.She gave me a puzzled look and said, «I have no idea what that is.» I explained that Unilocal was the very reason I was standing before her, salivating over the array of perfectly-​shaped, gooey, sugar-​infused donuts in the display case. Unfortunately, that didn’t get me anywhere other than her claim «You won’t find better donuts anywhere around.»
Turns out, she was mostly correct.
On her suggestion, I decided to try their signature apple cider donut. It was a dense, cake donut, perfectly fried and smothered in a rich glaze. Too bad I couldn’t detect any apple cider flavor. It tasted like a simple buttermilk glazed. It was still pretty awesome, though.
I also tried their coconut donut. That was a sheer delight: light and fluffy, it was almost like eating a cloud; and it was completely covered in a marvelous, glaze along with a healthy topping of coconut. Delicious!
The cost of a dozen was just $ 7.99 – an excellent value.
While these were not the very best donuts I’ve ever eaten, they were a far cry better than Dunkin Donuts which are over-​rated and over-​priced. All in all, Flanders Bake Shop is worth a return visit. Maybe by then, their employees will learn about Unilocal

This is one of my husband’s favorite spots in the shoreline. Lots of variety, very old school. Definitely not the kind of donuts you get at DD. I think they open at 5 AM in the morning or something like that.
I usually get an apple turnover or a crumb top donut, while he gets the candy shot or apple cider. Bagels are great too, although if you want butter or cream cheese, ask them to go light — they slather it on. Coffee is so-​so.

The best donuts and bagels around. The candy shot donut is a personal favorite, and for bagels I love the blueberry or cinnamon raison. Also the staff is very friendly, excellent customer service!

Whenever I can find a bagel shop with pumpernickel bagels, it is a banner day. The small shop has a drive up window. Very handy for locals, and even move handy in the winter! The lady ahead of me was FED EX ing a dozen to her dad who has been a fan for decades and wants more, even if he is in another state! Now that is customer loyalty! Anyway the bagels avery nice and I will be stopping in again next time I am in Niantic, CT
