Anzai

Went to eat on a Saturday at 12. Sign on door says they open at 12. We stayed 10 mins but the door is locked and no one is answering the phone. And looking through the window it is totally dark. It’s obvious they don’t intend to open. Glad I came down.

Anzai is an Asian fusion restaurant that has a full sushi bar inside of it. It’s located in East Meadow in the same shopping center as East meadow Bowl and Margaritas Café. Their menu is pretty lengthy and I decided to come here this past Father’s Day and give it a try due to the great reviews on Unilocal.
We got a few appetizers and sushi rolls to start out. I was not a fan of the Lobster roll — it was really small compared to others I’ve had and carried a really fishy taste… nothing special at all. The spicy rock shrimp were okay but a lot of breading. The california roll is hard to go wrong with so I enjoyed that. The Thai spring rolls were really good and I liked the chili sauce it came with. We decided to go with Sangrias as opposed to cocktails. I went with the green apple sangria which really tasted like an apple martini and my bf got the Pomegranate sangria which was ok.
For entrees the kids both decided on the chicken fried rice. That was a good portion and it came with a drink. My bf decided on the General Tso’s chicken and that had a really good taste and I loved how it was all white meat however it was supposed to be spicy and it was lacking spice. I went with my all time fav Chicken Pad Thai. At first it was too oily — I found myself blotting my mouth so I felt compelled to complain. The waitress said that next time I have to ask for «light oil». umm I’m sorry — but never in life have I ever ordered pad thai and the grease was sitting on the plate and I eat it allll the time. But I will forgive them because she took it back and they remade it and it came out so delicious just how I like it and I devoured it all.
All in all, Anzai is a good restaurant to come to if you’re into Asian fusion. I enjoy Wild Ginger in RVC and I feel like this can be one of my alternatives now when I’m in the mood. It’s a nice spot— says it’s also a lounge but it’s really pretty inside and the service was good.

I love this place! Food is delicious. Miso soup is the best. Fresh and tasty sushi and salads. I order bento box for lunch at least twice a week and delivery is always fast. I don’t have to wait no longer then 20 mins if that. I definitely recommend for everyone who likes Asian cuisine.

Great service!!! Staff was super friendly and accommodating and the food was fantastic!!! The chicken lettuce wraps are beyond amazing!

I really enjoyed my meal here. Anzai is located in a strip mall, but inside the décor is lovely.
I ordered the dinner special that included salad with ginger dressing, and 3 sushi rolls.
The salad was larger than average and had slices of mango and other vegetables, making it also more unique than a standard house salad.
The rolls: tuna, salmon, and california; were fresh, tasty and large.
The service was also great; the server checked on me to make sure everything was good.
This meal was very filling and was a great value.
Looking forward to enjoying more sushi nights here.

Great asset to the area. Food is fresh, atmosphere is chic. Staff is attentive and makes for a really enjoyable dinner spot.

The food is so so, average for the price. The service is below average and expect delays if there are more 10 people during lunch or dinner. There is another few blocks down the road Yuzi that is better on food than this place.

My favorite place. I order from them weekly. They have all different Asian cuisines so if I want sushi and my husband wants Chinese it is perfect. Everything we have had is delicious. It is fast delivery and the restaurant is gorgeous. I don’t review much, but this place is so good I felt I had to. I recommend the homemade shrimp dumpling ramen bowl. Delicious !

amazing food and service! they have a huge menu with a great blend of asian fusion! drinks are fantastic really awesome sangria and huge beers on tap! my favorite is the malaysia rice and thai cutty chicken! staff is very professional and friendly! we love this place will be back and order take out too!

I’ve only ordered takeout from grub hub but this place is really good. It’s pricey but good. And I love that they have uni.

My first time ordering through Unilocal for delivery. All I have to say is thoroughly impressed as all the directions and special requests were met. Truly looking forward to visiting the location soon for a sit down meal.
Still learning my way around the whole sushi scene, I am excited by the names and descriptions but hesitant to experience.
Even though the menu was quite appealing, the order consisted of spicy rock shrimp, lobster naruto roll, sweet potato roll, and 1 dragon roll (minus tobiko).
Firstly, the delivery was faster than many pizza orders. The food was fresh, quick and the driver was friendly. The food was amazingly fresh still holding the crunch factor. The sauce was on the side for the spicy rock shrimp, keeping the sogginess in mind. The sweet potato roll and dragon roll truly stood out for me. The lobster naruto roll was ok, but most likely something I will not order again.
Overall, the experience was amazing and this place truly has some great options, great food and even amazing delivery as it stated deliver time up to an hour, but delivered within 30.

Dined here a few times and I really liked it. The prices are very good, fish was fresh and the place was pretty nice too. Will definitely be my local sushi spot!

I really enjoyed the food here. I’ve posted some photos of dishes. The atmosphere is also very nice. The sushi is very good, and I would recommend this place. They have both expensive and inexpensive rolls, so it’s possible to eat here without spending an enormous amount of money.

Ordered delivery. Food was fast and at the right temp. The portions are american sized. I purchased the Carpaccio, miso soup and shrimp fried rice.
The miso was fine, hard to go wrong there. The Carpaccio was quiet tasty but I do suggest and hope for delivery orders that the sauce goes on the side. It made the dish soggy. The shrimp fried rice was very disappointing. Dry and no flavor. It was cooked with red bell pepper which was bizzarre.
Overall the service is great. Maybe it was just the chef tonight but food was mediocre. I would give it a second chance.

Love Anzai!!! Me and my boyfriend will go maybe once a month. Best sushi and sashimi, and friendliest staff. Haven’t been disappointed in anything I have ordered yet.

I liked the décor and the wait staff were attentive and pleasant. The sushi was pretty average. We had roll special and sushi pizza. I really like the sushi pizza. The rolls were just ok. We didn’t feel the selection was great but the portions were good sized.

I have recently started to eat sushi & have been on a quest trying many different places within my area to find the best. Anzai is modern, clean, & sexy inside & the staff are all extremely personable & gracious. I have yet to dine in but have taken take-​out twice. This last time I tried the Golden Dragon Roll & Gyoza appetizer. I wasn’t going right home so I figured a cooked shrimp tempura roll would fare much better than raw fish. It was quite good I must admit. Shrimp tempura wrapped in the traditional seafood wrapper with rice filled with avocado, cucumber, avocado, & topped with thin slices of mango & a drizzle of pineapple sauce. Both of the things I ordered were very tasty but I have not had enough here to make a real judgement call. The first time I got take-​out i orders the lettuce wraps, miso soup, & edamame. The edamame was good. After all, it’s edamame. The lettuce wraps however were not to my liking & I never had miso soup before & discovered that is not to my liking either; however, I think that is just my personal taste & nothing against the miso soup. I’ll come again & try other things but I’m still holding steadfast to Kaji of Garden City hands down for the five star sushi experience.

Welcome to Anzai, a New Asian Grill, Sushi and Lounge that opened in a strip mall on Front Street in East Meadow. We don’t have many sleek restaurants like this in our neighborhood. I stole a peek (or two) during it’s construction and was anxiously awaiting its arrival.
Lauren and I had lunch here last week and we were immediately impressed by the décor, service and food. We started with a Trio Spicy Tatar. This was a tuna, salmon, yellowtail sphere topped with tri-​colored cavier. The fresh fish was beautifully presented! Meager words cannot do it any justice, so I suggest you go to their website to see professional photos taken of the vast menu choices. Next we had two lunch specials — Sashimi and Sushi & Sashimi. Both meals were served with Soup or Salad, White or Brown or Fried Rice. Once Again, the dishes were picture perfect! The fish was cut beautifully and arranged artfully on the plate. We enjoyed our meal very much!
Service was a bit slow, (they seem to be working out the kinks of new ownership) but we didn’t mind because the lounge was very comfortable.
I’m looking forward to many more good meals at Anzai!
