Tried this place off a recommendation and I wasn’t disappointed. The food was made to order and very flavorful. Nice quant atmosphere that I really enjoyed. I like to try new places that are local and I can say that I will be back.

This place was super amazing, needless to say how reasonable the food was. The service was outstanding to notice there was only one waitress the night that my friend and I went. Friendly staff food was fresh and I will return I can’t remember exactly what I had but I did get to try the tofu which was a bit different from my taste buds lol Will return again… Try the fried rice it is amazing

I tried this place on a whim a few months ago and I’ve been back several times since! The ramen, sushi, skewers, and rice bowls are all very good. I’ve sampled quite a few things from the menu and haven’t been disappointed yet. I especially love the Sanderlin sushi roll. If you come for lunch, be sure to check in on Unilocal and get 10% off!

I was hungry but not too hungry so I stop by to grab something simple. Instead I order salmon sashimi and ramen. It was really good and fresh. Great service and great people. Took a little long to get my ramen but food was 10⁄10. Will come back for more.

This place has amazing skewers, and probably the best item to order from their menu. They also have a variety of sushis, makis, don, ramen, and an assortment of appetizers to order from. I a however not a fan of their tempuras since I like mine crispy and airy which was not the case here. Four stars for the variety, nice presentation and friendly staff.

Had a really good lunch. As typical of ramen places it was a little heavy on the salt. It was very good however I

I was with a party of six on a Saturday night. We began by ordering drinks, only to learn that they don’t serve wine(it was listed on the web site as available) and didn’t have any saki, which we considered strange for a Japanese restaurant. They do have a selection of beers, including Sapporo. The waiters were courteous and well informed; they did seem bamfoozled a bit by the number of people there. I also found it hard to hear what others were saying. On recommendation from another member of the party, two of us ordered the Ramen burger, where the bun is made from ramen. It was really outstanding, the meat texture and flavor being excellent. My wife ordered fried«breaded» shrimp, which she said was average, so she poached some of my burger. Another person in our group ordered tankatsu, which is a pork dish, and he reported it as very good. His wife, who is Japanese by birth, and one other person ordered sushi plates, which they really enjoyed. The sauces are delicious and range from sweetish to spicy. The French fries that came with my burger were done to perfection. Parking is easy out front. I will try it again, perhaps at lunch time. It’s certainly above average in quality for Memphis dinner spots.

I would give it 5 stars, but the miso soup was bland. However, got free edamame for checking in on Facebook, and the service was very pleasant! Calm little restaurant. I will definitely go back!

I have been wanting to try the new wave of Ramen sweeping Tennessee and finally had the opportunity while visiting Memphis. It’s a very small space and lucky for us, they weren’t busy on a Saturday night. After eating there, I have no idea why they weren’t slammed — everything was really tasty! We didn’t want to overdo it, so my hubs and I ordered one salmon dill skewer and one beef tenderloin skewer and each got a ramen. This was more than enough food for us! Both of the skewers were tasty — if I had an endless appetite, I would have loved to try more like they offer in sets on the back of the menu. Our ramen came out quicker than the skewers which was a little weird since we wanted the skewers as an appetizer, but not the end of the world. My ramen had melt-in-your mouth pork and a soft boiled egg in the broth and noodles. It deserves two solid thumbs up for flavor(not overpowering) and well cooked ingredients(not over cooked). My husband enjoyed his as well and the beef skewer was our favorite but we only tried two. They also have sushi, which they call«zushi» for some reason but we didn’t try any. Memphis, do yourself a favor and visit this restaurant. If only I lived in Memphis, I would be back regularly to try them all!

We were on this side of town for something else, and happened upon Skewer. After reading the Unilocal reviews and menu, we decided to try it, but we were underwhelmed. Although you do get lots of food, it’s very salty, and awkwardly flavored. My daughter ordered the shaken chicken, which tasted like old, leftover meat. It was no good, and she did not eat it. I ordered the Sigma, which came with a salad, miso soup, rice, and several skewers of meat and veggies, including beef, pork, and chicken. The miso was weird and highly salted. The ginger dressing was awful. The various meats on the skewers were tasty, though. My husband ordered the Gyudon beef bowl. He thought it was very good. That said, we would not return.

Ok y’all! The ramen is where it’s AT! Flavorful broth(which is hard to find in veg ramen around here) and a perfect soft-boiled egg. You can choose from a variety of noodles(soba, thin, flat) and mine were delish! Worth the drive out to Sanderlin!

Skewer just passed their one year anniversary and I just made it here for the first time. Though I shouldn’t judge a business by its neighbor, I’ll blame my myopia on the pig stye(Fox and Hound) that blocks the view from Sanderlin. A fresh, but understated interior… which in my opinion says they’re focused on the food and not on an appeal to the faux East Memphis Ivy Leaguer’s(you rock, Olé Miss!) Bottom line… an impressive and creative menu. I tried the Skewer Ramen… a brothy bowl dish that was yet to find it’s way to the menu(available with pork, chicken or shrimp). Spot on(a shout out to Ashley for the fine recommendation)! Good to the last slurp. Wifey got all into their Ramen Burger like a lioness devouring a baby gazelle(meat-loving women are a turn-on). Skewer gets my vote as the best boutique restaurant in East Memphis(bite me, Brookhaven Circle).

Yummmm! I came here for lunch and was not disappointed… in fact, I was super impressed! They have awesome lunch specials and their sushi was delicious! Same with their soup! And chicken! OK, I was a total pig that lunch… but I wanted to try a little bit of everything… and I’m glad I did because everything was great AND I got a to-go box so I could enjoy this delightful place a second time for dinner. Speaking of which, I’d love to come back here for dinner… maybe on a date… because the lighting is super dim and therefore flattering :)

How did I not know about Skewer? I love sushi. Absolutely love sushi. I really enjoyed this place! It’s a great go to whether you are casual or maybe just a little crunched for time. We were in and out fairly quickly. They have some great lunch specials as well! I was lucky to try three different rolls, but my favorite would have to be the Memphis! Another thing I loved about this place was they had pictures of most their food! I’m a very visual person, especially when it comes to sushi. I will definitely add this place to my list!

MEMPHISMOSTAUTHENTICRAMEN Shrimp penko: tastiest crunchy shrimp served with spicy cream dipping sauce… A GOODSTART Gokumiso ramen: yellow noodle miso/tonkotsu blended broth served with roasted pirk, spicy ground pork, soft boiled egg, cabbage, bean sprout, corn, sesame seed, mayu(black garlic oil) and chopped green onion. Tomkins ramen(Fukuoka style): yellow noodle, tonkotsu broth, roasted pork, soft boiled egg, shredded wood ear mushroom, seasoned bamboo shoot, black garlic oil, chili paste, chopped green onions. Roasted pork is thicker sliced than what we are normally accustomed to. Noodle was more al dente and not my preference. Broth was rich in flavor and remained hot to the final sip. Ambiance leaves no doubt that you are in a Japanese noodle shop.

… Putting aside my heritage and exposure to real Japanese food… Even I know what I’m dealing with in the City of Memphis. Having said that, my standards for asian food in Tennessee/Memphis, have changed drastically, therefore, I give this a 4⁄5 stars since it is decent enough to satisfy my Japanese craving without being too no-authentic. FOOD –I ordered the Gokumiso Ramen. PLUS: I did not know that my meal came with a free salad! Though the salad isn’t that great, its better than nothing and helps me mentally offset the amount of calories and carbs I’m about to ingest with my ramen. The ramen came out hot, and the broth was good. The noodles itself were just aite, but better than What I was expecting. I enjoyed the little specks of willingness to try for authenticity in the soup! So, in my books, this was not bad. The bowl itself is about $ 10, which is meh, average/okay, for the amount of food that you get. SERVICE — The service was friendly. Girls ushered me to a table, and I had a lady server that was nice and attentive. I do have to say that getting the check and getting my card swipe DID take a WHILE(pet peeve, I hate slow service). Time wise in getting the food took a while too. So definitely account that into your visit. I came on a weekday for lunch so I expected it to be a bit faster. ETC — Their menu is vast! They have ALOT of things to order from. I wanted to order sushi; but, decided to try the Ramen this time and sushi next time. Overall, this is an OK place. FORMEMPHISTHOUGH, its a good upgrade to the city’s asian food landscape, so I’m giving it 4 stars. Average/good enough to satisfy your asian food craving.

I went to Skewers today for lunch. I was impressed by the unique restaurant concept, ambiance, and menu. The restaurant is very clean and nice and the staff is very courteous. I had the shaken chicken appetizer that is served with a spicy orange sauce(that is very good by the way) and an interesting and unique pepper blend. For my entrée, I ordered the Memphis sushi roll. The shaken chicken was good but the Memphis Sushi roll was amazing. The sushi rolls had salmon, crawfish, avocado, with an orange mayo sauce. I must say that it was one of the best sushi rolls I’ve had in Memphis by far. I was disappointed by the length of time that It took for them to bring our food to us. The restaurant is fairly small. The parking is very bad being that they share the parking lot with several other businesses in the commercial complex. All in all the experience was just ok, the food was good, and the services was good. I would recommend this restaurant.

Finally some ramen in Memphis! Ever hear of Japanese BBQ? Well that’s what yakitori is… Meat on a skewer and grilled! A great place to try for Asian food… Happy with the new addition. Big slices of pork with the ramen, skewers done right, sushi on point… No beer yet, but on the way. Lunch menu is much cheaper than dinner. Come try it out!
