I agree with T. Alan D. I’ve gone into this place a few times for the same reason(supporting a smaller hardware store), but, man, the staff(to a man — no women working there!) is unfriendly and make you feel as if you are stupid. I asked for contractor bags. The man who worked there pointed to bags. I told him that those weren’t the ones I wanted. When I did see what I wanted, he sternly corrected me that what I was looking for were drum liner bags. I apologized for not knowing __exactly__what I wanted. No reaction. Can’t figure out if they dislike customers in general or female customers in particular. Either way, that’s the last buck I spend there. BTW, this is a True Value, which isn’t a small business — it’s a chain just like HD or Lowe’s. So, I’m done: going down the road to HD instead. Better yet, a Lowe’s opened not so long ago in Deer Park and the employee who helped me was very friendly and helpful. Even better — County Line Hardware(5 stars on Unilocal) is a true small business on W. Hills Rd., Hunt. Stat. The staff there treats everyone well.

The store is fully stocked, but I find the staff to be less than helpful. I’ve stopped in twice when I wanted to give them my business rather than Home Depot, and got a very unhelpful attitude both times. Too bad because small businesses like this are vital, but so is Customer Service.
