Bought a shrub there and it died the next season. Spoke to several folks and they wouldn’t make me whole even though the bush died. I’d have to say I wouldn’t go back. Looks good but you are better off at someplace that will treat you fairly and with courtesy.

This is becoming one of my favorite nurseries. The scenery of this place is breathtaking. It’s so vast and beautiful. This may sound silly, but sometimes I think of the Shire when I’m here. Minus the Hobbit houses of course! But now on to the merchandise and service! The service is really good over here. Everyone is extremely helpful and polite. Some of the employees seem like young teenagers and sometimes lack experience when you ask questions, but even they are courteous and sincere, and will do their best to be helpful. They have a wide variety of seeds, and the the pottery is not bad. My only quip is that the terracotta pottery is a mixture of quality Italian pottery and the relatively cheaper looking American pottery that you can at Home Depot(sorry, I realize I should buy American!) they’re both the same price, but their Italian pottery is better! And the plants? They’re fine. But lately I’m growing my flora with seeds, so I’m focused on other supplies. And this was the only store I could buy horticultural sand from, so I am a happy camper. Martin Viette is definitely worth the trip!

This place is huge & well organized! Large selection of your gardening needs! The prices are a bit high but the trees & flowers quality here are pretty good. We love doing garden work. This is definitely one place that we will be coming back. The staff here are also friendly & helpful.

The good thing about this nursery is the quality of the plants and garden decorations. The bad thing is that it’s busy and you sometimes can wait an hour to get help. Pricey.

My husband and I had a great experience at Martin Viette Nurseries last weekend. I am always overwhelmed at a nursery, so I took my husband to select some pots for our patio. We needed flowers for 13 pots, 9 of which we had to select. Donna C. helped us and she was amazing; patient, knowledgeable, and very thoughtful about color combinations and durability. My landscaper picked up everything the next day. Donna made sure we had rocks, container soil as well as the pots, flowers and herbs. I cannot tell you what a satisfied customer we are! Thank you, Martin Viette!

I originally posted this review in May of 2012. Somehow it was taken down. A little fishy so I’m putting it back up again. While one doesn’t go to Martin Viette to seek out a bargain you would like to think all that priciness gets you first class service. Think again. The property is a magnificently merchandised horticultural haven and you pay for that. The plantings and accessories are fabulous. The prices are not what I take issue with. I have been a customer for many years and have never had a problem before. However this year I was treated extremely rudely by a woman named Eden who works in the greenhouse. She could barely be broken away from a personal conversation she was having and when I finally did get her attention she was abrupt and rude on top of giving me the wrong information about where to find a particular species of begonia. It was as if I was bothering her. After shopping about for a bit she came back and accosted my cart full of plantings and pulled one of my selections off of my cart and told me I could not purchase because it was part of a display she was going to make! No apologies, no «let me find something to replace that with» nothing… she went back to chatting up her friend. The same one she had been gabbing with 30 minutes earlier. Eden ruined what is normally a happy shopping outing. I will think twice before going back to Martin Viette again. And I certainly would never allow Eden in the greenhouse to asssist me.

A great local spot for all sorts of seasonal supplies to spruce up your outdoor décor. I love te location off of 25A and used to just come to walk around when I still lived with my parents in East Norwich. The service is friendly, the staff knowledgeable and the wares are top of the line, especially for gardeners. I love visiting around the holiday to check out the decorations, and Halloween time is an amazing treat. The prices are high but it’s the North Shore of Nassau County, what do you expect?

I lived in Levittown, NY for about 20 years before moving to florida. I miss being able to go to Martin Viette, I usually went on Sundays, the grounds are so nice, I loved just walking around and seeing the beautiful shrubs, plants, etc. I especially loved being there at the holidays. one Halloween, I took my grand daughters there, we had a great time. I did a lot of shopping also, I still have an artificial Christmas tree that I now keep on my porch here in florida. There are many nurseries here in Ocala, but none as beautiful as Martin Viette. I’m very happy to find my favorite apple available and I got to pick them myself from the crate! The apple cider is delicious, apple turnover is good too. I miss the muffins they used to have a long time ago and don’t have anymore. It’s a great place for families for the baby pumpkin picking area, «animal» farm with animal statues, pumpkin painting area, and lots of pumpkins and squashes to choose from like the goose neck squash, fairy tale squash. Haven’t tried the hayride but i’m sure it’s fun.

I LOVE Martin Viette Nurseries! I like their hay rides and the photo opportunities. This Nursery is HUGE. There’s also a petting zoo where guests can feed animals. There is a small corn maze. I come here to buy my pumpkins and enjoy the ambience of autumn. Since it’s in Long Island they of course, have their own parking lot.

Plants and things. Of the two nurseries in the area, I like this one way better than the one right down my street. Martin Viette is huge– they have a ton of property and it is utilized in such a way that just strolling about looking at all the bushes and trees will let you forget you are in a «store». The prices are nothing to crow about but where they really get the 4 star rating is because of the way they decorate and such for the holidays. Around Halloween they set up a corn maze and have hay rides, around Christmas they do a tree lighting and never mind when apple season rolls in(like right about now). They’ll have tons of crates of every type of apple you can imagine to choose from. The help is excellent there — I only wish the prices were a bit cheaper. Big parking lot.
