Meadowlands True Value

Brought a can of paint back and the owner is not willing to give a refund, he said there is a 30 day return policy. Meanwhile there is no sign anywhere in the store on that. And not even on the receipt itself…
After trying to reason with him for a while he issued me a store credit.
I’m not even from around here so the 30 day store credit that he is issuing me is probably going to waste.
That’s the problem trying to give small guys business

When a hardware store blows you away with a pleasant experience, they deserve 5 stars.
Ok, so the place is a bit of a mess, like many small hardware stores are. But you know what trumps everything? Service.
I don’t know about you, but at the end of my work day I am exhausted and drained. So, when I arrived at this hardware store shortly before their closing time, I was expecting to be met by someone who was slightly irritable and rushing to get out of there. Boy was I surprised to find the exact opposite!
There was a line of several people waiting for service, and the owner was fielding requests and checkouts one by one. If I were in his situation, I would have been totally frantic and stressed. But not this guy. He had a big smile on his face and was extremely upbeat and helpful and pleasant to each customer. I was amazed. Watching him operate in such a positive way lifted my own spirits.
Finally, my turn came, and I needed help finding some paint that other stores kept saying was discontinued. He had the paint in stock and began mixing it for me right away. He told me that actually the paint was not discontinued, there was just a newer version, and some stores only carry the new one, and are too lazy to help you order the older one. He was spot on, based on my prior experiences. He also helped me select the best painting supplies for my needs.
The owner was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his work. That’s exactly the type of person I want to do business with, and I will continue to make the trip out to East Rutherford in the future.
Now I know why people were lined up to give him business.

I go here all the time, and always have a pleasant experience.
