I was interested in checking out Schwabs just from previous reviews. Don’t be fooled by the size of the store from the outside, because they carry a large variety of running shoes and apparel. I was in need of a new pair of running shoes, but I am also an over pronator and wear orthotics which most of the time don’t fit into standard sneaker sizes so I always end up having to order shoes online and get them custom ordered for a wider size. But to my surprise this store actually has wide sizes! And not just for one brand, but for almost all brands. The man who was also working there at the time was friendly and very helpful. Thank you Schwabs for my new Brooks!

Bought a pair of Brooks Ghosts that wore quickly. Schwabs didn’t think twice, explaining that Brooks had a generous return/defect policy. Walked out with another pair of shoes(Nikes). My family has shopped here for years and will continue. Thanks Schwabs!

Great running store. They have knowledgeable and friendly staff that will help you figure out what type of sneakers you need. I overpronate when I run, causing ankle issues after really long runs. The staff takes a look at your feet and measures you, and then brings several sneakers over for you to try. Fell in love with a pair of Asics and Saucony stability sneaks, so I got both! Just as a note, they do not sell Mizunos.

Schwabs is the number one place on the island for getting a pair of running shoes. I ran in high school(for Bayport), and all of my coaches encouraged going to Schwabs to get the best shoe possible. I bought my shoes there for many years, and now that I have moved back into the area, I will be going there again. The owner is extremely knowledgable, and is very involved with the running community. He sponsors plenty of running events around the state, and I remember that his Schwab 2nd Wind t-shirts were at times the most popular shirt seen at track meets around the island. The store has that much of a following. I was always happy to see him around at meets or running camps, and I have never for even one second felt that he was trying to «sell» me anything. His business it about putting the right person in the right shoe to keep you running, period. They don’t upsell you to those new $ 200 dollar shoes just because they want that extra 100 in their pockets. Every time I have gone in, I have met with a knowledgable person. Often times the employees are incredible highly ranked runners themselves, and are fully educated on what shoes are the best fit for all types of runners. Getting the right shoe can be difficult, and there is no store I would trust to help me make the decision other than Schwabs 2nd Wind.

I desperately needed a new pair of running sneakers after beating my current pair up. I had been looking high and low for a pair I would love just as much as my nikes, but hadn’t been successful. I stopped in to browse at 2nd Wind, with no intention of buying(I like to do my research!). After starting a chat with a very friendly employee(owner?) he explained the pros and cons of all the different types of sneakers — and then measured my feet and had me try on several pairs. Of course, the pair that he recommended from the start were the perfect pair for me. Lightweight, minimalist, and perfect for my mid-foot strike(Saucony Kinvara). I of course had to have them, and bought them. I am in love with my new sneakers, and am excited to lace up every time I run. I look forward to going back for my next pair to this place where the customer is important, and they take the time to sit and chat instead of handing you the shoes and walking away. I highly recommend 2nd Wind!

After living in the Three Village area for ~20 years, I’ve finally made it in to Schwab’s 2nd Wind for the first time yesterday! I went in to get fitted for running sneakers and the service here is excellent. They didn’t rush me, took the time to sit down with me and fitted me with what would fit my feet exactly. The folks there were extremely friendly and knowledeable and the prices aren’t as expensive as you’d think. In fact, it turns out the sneakers I was recommended(Brooks Ravenna 2) were exactly the same price as any merchant online(Amazon, multiple other sites etc). This was a surprise to me but a refreshing one! SHOP here for your fitness /athletic needs! There’s a reason why a mom and pop shop like Schwab’s has lasted in the area for so long…20+ years.
