This is always a must stop when you visit Tawas for the weekend. They range in so many chocolates and candies you couldn’t even count it! They also serve coffee, which I haven’t had yet but am so excited to try! Every worker I’ve encountered there is happy to help as well!

This is the best chocolate shop! You name it, and the Village Chocolatiers have covered it in dark or milk chocolate… well almost! Homemade marshmallows, nuts, mint patties, caramel, creams — yum! There’s also a wall of Jelly Bellies and a small wall of M&Ms! Just see for yourself!

A wonderful find in East Tawas. Hand dipped chocolates and other terrific sweets. One reviewer mentioned they didn’t know where their chocolate came from. Who cares! having things presented in a nice environment, kids with there noses pressed against the displays. Its a good throw back to a simpler time.

RIGHTOUTOFSTARSHALLOW. Extremely friendly and helpful. My girlfriend and I visited this place during the Live Window Display during the towns holiday celebration. I couldn’t believe such a shop existed outside of the Gilmore Girls. I’m serious. Everyone seemed to know each other and were smiling and friendly, it was JUST what we need to get in the spirit. We ended up shopping in the store for almost 30 minutes, trying different treats and making a basket for our friends and family.(We ended up eating half of it on our own!) I hold no hesitation in stating that this is one of the best if not the best chocolate shop I have ever been to, I only wish I could purchased their stuff online. It is a must stop for anyone traveling through or NEAR East Tawas.

WOW! DELICIOUS! Chocolate, Caramel and Toffee Apples are AMAZE-BALLS! Even sell them by the slice. HUGE variety of hand-dipped chocolates, ALLDELICIOUS, even had a Polar Vortex chocolate that blew my mind. This place even had drip coffee, what more can one ask for than a good cup of coffee in a chocolate palace? I never drive through East Tawas without stopping here.

The people who work here are just incredibly friendly. I bought the best caramel apple I have ever eaten from this very place. Fabulous and they offer to give you either a Granny Smith or Fuji apple under the caramel. You can also get your caramel with nuts or without. We also had some of their chocolate covered raspberries and those were also excellent. The staff did ask for ID when I used my credit card, but I have never signed the back so that is the right thing to do.

While my daughters were freaking out over the Jelly Belly station, I asked the lady behind the counter where their chocolate came from. She didn’t know. She asked two other people, and no one knew. After«trying» their«70% cocoa» chocolate, I’m pretty sure it’s Hershey’s, and wasn’t 70% cocoa. They didn’t actually have any free samples of their chocolate, and had a sign on the Jelly Bean station saying no sampling, so to try it, I had to buy a piece. Turned out that most of the jelly bean flavors were stale and hard as rocks. When checking out, the cashier asked me for my ID when paying with a credit card, whether or not I used it as a debit card. I told her that I didn’t have my ID, and she asked her manager if it was okay. The manager said«As long as his card doesn’t say ‘See ID’ on the back». In case the reader of this review isn’t aware, Visa, MasterCard, and AmericanExpress all have«regulations» against requiring ID to use their cards. It doesn’t prevent fraud, is inconvenient to the bank’s card holders, and also allows for racial or other profiling. The correct thing to do is to check for the hologram and other security features of the card, ensure that the card number imprinted on the card matches what swipes, and to compare the signatures. If the merchant is concerned that something is wrong, they should call Visa and MaserCard and say they have a code 10 authorization. Visa and MasterCard will then ask to speak with the cardholder and authenticate them. Only if your card is unsigned, should they ask for ID. They then should require you to sign the credit card in front of them before they will take it as payment. An unsigned credit card is not valid. Stay away. This tourist trap doesn’t really want your business.

Very nice store and friendly staff. Love the peanut butter and chocolate dipped pretzels. They have a nice selection of sugar free chocolate and candies too.

Go here. Do not waste your time elsewhere. This is the only place in Tawas offering chocolate and sweets, as far as you’re concerned. This place is indescribable. The staff all seem to be trained in the art of being quiet and respectful while you, the customer, decide what you’d like. That’s a rarity these days. They focus on you, and always wait patiently while you point out the dozen or so delights you’re interested in and ask what their opinions are on them. They are honest with you, and they can afford to be, because everything they make there is awesome. Must-try: grapes dipped in white chocolate and drizzled with peanuts. What? Yes.

What a wonderful place! We stopped in for a cup of coffee. We left with suggestions for things to see and do in the area, amazing handmade chocolates(which you can watch them make in the shop), a great conversation and our cup of coffee(also amazing). I highly recommend The Village Chocolatier to anyone visiting the area.
