This diner sucks. The food sucks the people suck the restaurant is rundown and dirty. The prices are outrages. And who calls a diner the odyssey?

Staff made us feel rushed from the time they handed us the menu to when we «finished» our meal. It was between breakfast and lunch, and was slow.

I don’t know what happened to this place but the owner and hostess seemed bothered that we even came in to eat(not the first time this happened) the paper mats they put on the table had coffee stains on them from I assume previous people. We waited 15 minutes to even get acknowledged by the waiter and it was empty. The lady when we checked out had the worst attitude ever. Sorry but don’t own a diner if your not personable and don’t care about your customer satisfaction.

I can only speak for breakfast as that is all I go there for. The food is consistent whether it be eggs anyway you like them, to omelets, to pancakes. As usual, and like most diners… the hash browns are flat and boring… With no imagination into making them tasty, but they are in good company… service is good, servers are attentive(they keep the coffee hot and the cup filled). Prices are reasonable, and I hardly ever wait for a table… will always return…

Just need to offset some of these reviews. Maybe the place has changed since they were written. Had a salad with fresh grilled tuna. It wasn’t what you’d get in a high end place, but it was solid. The waiter was good, service was fast. As diner food goes, this was above average.

Feb 3rd made my second visit to this diner. This time I had lunch. Bacon cheeseburger deluxe with fried egg on it, the specific name of the burger I can’t remember. I think it was called The Rebel. Talk about awesome. Rainy day, great burger. I usually don’t eat coleslaw but I decided to try theirs and it was delicious. Not overly sweet like others. Breakfast may be OK but lunch is much much better and I can see another visit happening.

Stay away this place is awful waited 20 minutes for uncooked French toast service terrible meal terrible and to top it off went to pay the check not even a thank you by the old lady at the cashier and she saw what was going on the whole time hopefully she wasn’t the owner but probably was that’s why this whole experience was awful never going back zero stars

How hard can it be to have a clean diner with decent food? Apparently, it is difficult. If a diner can’t even put in the effort to make crispy bacon and home fries, why go?

Listen to the reviews. The food is OK, not worth the price and the wait staff is a joke. I didn’t even want to tip the guy.

Service was pretty bad. All we wanted were some slices of cake from the dessert case. It was 9:30 pm, and there weren’t many customers. Not sure why it took the waiter 10 minutes to greet us and another 10 to bring us the desserts. Plus, it took a long to even get seated. The guy behind the counter(owner? Manager?) saw us come in, then turned around and texted for a while before we eventually interrupted and asked to be seated. When we went for lunch another time, service was a little better. Food is fine — typical diner food. I do wish they’d use real cheese instead of Kraft slices on the tuna melt though.

Cleanliness is important but gaseous fume ingestion accompanying my food intake is probably a health violation(and if not, just figure out the gastronomic aesthetics of this food environment?) Save the undustrial-smell mopping up for AFTER clients are NOT still eating! (We’re talking 3:30pm, not am). Maybe the dirty mop guys could dance to Bway tunes! Change the whole place around! Kidding. Ripe: Serving a male customer check-out before me(yup, I was on line first!) does not rosy-bud feeling inspire. I guess this is a cash cow restaurant that ignores Unilocal reviews. And empty parking lots on Saturdays in spring…

Just wanted to say that after my initial review some months ago I heard from the proprietor who seemed interested in what I had to say about lackadaisical service and lack of warmth in general. We saw a difference in the staff’s attitude after that and continue to have meals there at least a couple of times a month. And I had a delicious waffle at the diner last weekend.

I first went to Odyssey a few years ago and I told myself then I’d never go back. After driving around to a few places on Easter Sunday evening, a friend and I decided«let’s just go here instead of wasting any more gas» — BIGMISTAKE. For starters, their entrée prices are kind of expensive for a diner $ 21 and up? This is what I normally spend at a restaurant, not a diner. We both ordered off of the«sautéed specials» section of the menu. I ordered some kind of chicken with prosciutto and«fresh» mozzarella. My friend ordered the Dijon chicken. We started with the French Onion soup which was greasy, but not bad. The Salads were mediocre and not really appetizing, can’t place my finger on exactly what was wrong — maybe it was the yellow creamy Italian dressing. Now for the main course: I kind of had a «WTF» moment when the waiter set down the two plates. On my plate there were two thin cutlets topped with prosciutto and poly o cheese — and that’s it! My friend on the other hand had two cutlets and way over-cooked vegetables sitting atop a huge mound of rice pilaf. When the waiter set my plate down he asked if I would like a baked potato or something on the side? I said«no» somewhat confused by their menu which clearly states that the sauté meals do not come with a vegetable or potato, but are served over rice or pasta. Huh? I’m confused. The combination of the chicken, sauce and prosciutto ended up being extremely salty. My friends Dijon chicken just tasted weird — like there was a big slimy pile of Dijon pressed between the chicken and some kind of cheese that had no flavor. The consistency was gross and I had a hard time swallowing it. We ordered desserts to go and then came the real slap in the face — $ 67 for that garbage!?! This place might be good for breakfast and burgers. But avoid the entrees. A total disgusting rip off.

Hostess and manager leave so much to be desired, I waited to be sat, and there wasn’t a wait time. I had to ask for a highchair, twice. The waitstaff was great, they were attentive and responsive. I only had one item from the menu, it was not too good and overpriced. I do not recommend this diner nor would I ever return.

I’ve had good meals here in the past — what happened to this place? 15 minutes to get cold food. A «Greek» salad with iceberg lettuce? And when we told the waiter that the burger and fries were greasy — the waiter said, «Uh, yeah!» Seriously? Never again, thank you.

Uh, if I could give negative stars I would. Was just there with family on 9÷13÷14. When they brought our food, a ROACH jumped out of the dish of chicken fingers. Needless to say we left in a hurry.

I’ve been at the Eastchester Diner on Wednesday August 272014 around 2pm and when i saw the place I nearly walked out, but I do not know why I didn’t. The Booths were held together by Duct Tape and Large amount of Chewing Gum under the tables. When I see a place like this, it scares me to eat there, but I was hungry so was my family. I will not be back. The staf where running around like crazy but the place was not busy… The owners need to get out of town. Do not eat there

Good service and great food. The problem I have with diners is the insanely long menu, this place is no exception but everything I got was good. The cheeseburger was fresh and juicy. The french fries were also good, thick cut style. The pickle and cole slaw were actually good too; usually I don’t eat these at most diners but it tasted fresh. I recommend getting some challah bread too.

What’s up with the 1 – 2 star reviews of this place? Ridiculous! I have nothing but positive comments of this place. Grannies, grampas, seniors with walking crutches, and families were pouring in by the hour, surely if it was 2 stars worth of a diner, it wouldn’t be this busy on a weekend and this loved and supported by the Eastchester community. Classic 80’s diner atmosphere. You walk into a display of baked goods, a bubble gum machine(nostalgia!), and capsule toy vending machines as you wait to be seated. Manager is dressed very nicely and friendly. Our server was attentive and friendly as well. I asked if they had strawberry milkshake but they only had vanilla or chocolate. I pondered for a second and changed my mind and went with water.(I’m pretty much a traditionalist when it comes to milkshakes… strawberry only for me.) He said«You sure? Our vanilla milkshakes are really good.» Given his extra effort in trying to convince me, I gave in and I’m glad I did. Literally tasted like vanilla ice cream :) He remarked«good choice» with my mom’s order of pancakes :) My parent’s coffee were constantly refilled, guys were making rounds every 10 minutes. Impressive. It’s nice their menu has the option of ‘healthy choices’ for those who are on a diet– ie. «Low carbs», «Health Salad», «Turkey Bite». If I’m going to be at a diner though, I’m going to go ALLOUT for sure haha! I had the French Toast Deluxe which consisted of 2 french toast, 2 pieces of bacon, a sausage, a piece of virginia ham, and an egg cooked to your liking. Delicious, my over easy egg was cooked perfectly. We were all stuffed to the max after finishing our breakfast and was fully satisfied with the service. Places like these affirm my love for classic diners and all American breakfasts :)
