«Since 1974, First Encounter has been a première venue on Cape Cod for the enjoyment of live acoustic music of all kinds; including blues, traditional and contemporary folk, bluegrass, gospel and more. We are a non-​profit organization staffed completely by volunteers. Concerts are held twice each month throughout the year. First Encounter provides a rare opportunity to listen to a variety of fine music in a smoke and alcohol free environment. We offer home-​baked treats and hot and cold beverages. Children are welcome and admitted free, so it’s a great place to go as a family.

this place is famous, seriously it has had some big names in blues and folk. Its very cheap considering that you will get TWO shows in a row. the building is beautiful with amazing stain glass windows. the acoustics of the room are wonderful for music, amplifying it and holding the sound to perfection. Its intimate, and inviting; the perfect date place. The signers often involve you in the music and have you sing along.
It will fill up fast, because this is where the locals go for music on cape cod. Id recommend for bigger shows showing up 20 min ahead of time. Of course they will fit you in, as you can always stand.
