Auto Sound Plus

My wife bought me an automatic starter for my car for Christmas through this place. They sell a lot of them there so I had to wait a couple of weeks to get it installed which wasn’t a big deal.
Unfortunately, I picked the snowiest day in 2015 to get it done. Because of the push button ignition on my car, the installation took longer than they expected. Many businesses had closed early that day because of the weather, but the owner and a technician put in the extra hours to get it done that day, staying well after working hours to make sure it was working right and that I wouldn’t have to come back.
The owner let me know what the issues were and how they were going to fix them and they did. I would definitely return there.

Would not recommend this business to anyone. The owner was very rude and told me that people never ask him questions. I thought since I was getting my car tinted and I have a dog who looks out the window, asking about the durability of the product was legit. I had also told him that I wasn’t ready to book an appointment because I was waiting for a call back from another shop. Upon hearing this he told me that it was no problem and that he had plenty of business and didn’t need mine anyways. At that point I should have just walked, but I only went here because I’ve seen their work and it was the most convenient location. Upon dropping off my car, only some of the information was written down that we discussed. I didn’t remember exactly what percentage what windows were being tinted. The only good part was the tinter. There was a language barrier, but he physically showed me what he recommended. The job looks good, but I later found out that I drastically overpaid for the job and there was also damage from the razor blade to my car.

I’ll start with the positive: 1. It’s nice to have a shop in the neighborhood with expertise in car audio systems; 2. They worked fast — my problem was resolved within a day. However, dubious math in forming estimates and charging fees, coupled with an aggressive sales pitch really soured my experience at Auto Sound Plus.
I came in to have a simple problem resolved: replacement of my car’s auxiliary port. The part was only $ 20, but the owner estimated it would take about 90 minutes to install. He estimated $ 100 for the labor, which means their standard labor rates are $ 67 per hour. This may or may not have reconciled with the complicated labor grid posted below the counter. I didn’t protest.
The job turned out to take about 40 minutes, and my bill was adjusted by $ 20. This didn’t make sense to me. If the hourly rates were $ 67, and the job took less than an hour, why were the labor charges $ 80? A 40-​minute job should’ve been $ 44. Even if there was a one hour minimum, I was still overcharged.
I probably should have argued the point, but the truth is I was exhausted from having fended off multiple aggressive sales pitches. I was asked what kind of music I listen to, and, knowing the sales pitch was forthcoming, I said I simply like to listen to audio books. Despite my disinterest in any sophisticated sound system, the first pitch was for a $ 375 system (probably much higher with exorbitant installation fees). The second pitch came upon the completion of the repair work. Without my consent, they took the liberty of temporarily hooking up an amplifier to my auxiliary port, just so they could show me how awesome the sound could be. I came out to my car to hear it booming music at unprecedented volume, and I began to wonder how Stephen King would sound cranked up this high.
I patiently turned down the pitch, and the owner did not pursue it any further. I know I was not within the market demographics for this shop, but I wondered how well young drivers in their teens and twenties would fare with such aggressive tactics. How many hundreds (or thousands) of dollars could be spent on sound systems, window tinting, and other services offered?

I’ve had my window tint done here as well as stereo amp installed. Work done as promised. No worries would use them again.

Every issue I had has been addressed and I am quite satisfied by the final outcome.
