I was recommended 2 bontrager tubless tires from their head mechanic. 2 weeks and cords broke on front tire. Factory defect, $ 62.00 lost no partial or full reimbursement or some kind of credit. Charged me $ 10.00 to install a new tire to replace the one that failed. No more bontrager replaced it with a GEAXGATO (Not their brand) ordered a KENDA tire weeks later for the rear and had them install it. 1 hour later my valve stem was broken, rim tape replaced, sealant oozing out all over and scratches on my wheel where the«mechanic“clearly over tightened the valve stem and tire went flat after 2 blocks. Before I left he said it was the tire and because the sealant wasn’t „their brand“(Bontrager) also had something to do with it and to watch it for 24 hours…(Huh???) came in the next day and the head mechanic wanted to charge me another $ 35.00 on top of the $ 53.00 originally paid, to fix what they had already messed up… If you didn’t buy a bike from them you will get screwed. They come off nice and genuinely concerned about your biking needs but all they want is to over charge you $$$. I will tell everyone on the trail about my experience with them and to not go there. I spent about $ 700.00 there on labor alone and this is how they treat a new loyal customer. Shame cuz I was eyeing up a trek remedy about $ 3500.00 and was gonna get it thru them. NOTANYMORE. Genesis Cycles are a rip-off (Example) $ 4.99 for(1) 12g threaded co2 cartridge $ 4.99 for(1) 16g non threaded co2 »

Moved to the area approximately 3 years ago from NC where I had a bike shop(Two Wheeler Dealer) that I had the utmost trust in when it came to servicing my Trek bicycles(road & mountain), so when I found Genesis was a certified Trek dealer I thought I would check them out. After having my 2005 Trek Madone serviced twice over the past couple of years(fairly extensive but much needed, i.e. new wheel set, new drive train, cables, etc…) I am happy to announce that I have found a bike shop with great mechanics(Jimmy) and a knowledgeable and friendly staff. Ride on!!!

I when to this store a couple of weeks ago to check some bikes. I was helped by Jab and was really pleased with he’s professionalism and help. I got a bike a liked with an easy non pushy transadtion. Thanks Jab. So why 4 stras and not 5? I returned a week later with my wife to check some helmets and accesories including tubes and whatever we tought we may need. We were looking at helmets when we were approached by a lady and I ask about the tubes. She grabbed one and procceded to the register to check us out(plus they don’t take amex) we ended up purchSing helmets and other accesories at another shop in Bethlehem(around $ 300 worth of accesories) The things is sometimes we want to explore whats available specially when new to cycling.

I don’t typically write any type of review, but I felt after going to several bike shops in the area and seeing the many number of negative feedback that the shop received, I should put in my two cents and counter. The short version: Pros: Great personal touch service, huge selection, and really spend the extra time needed to get you what you need. Cons: Expensive for service — but very justified. The long version: I have been riding around with a 15+ year old Specialized Hardrock bike from the late 90s. It’s still in descent condition and has served me very well for the age but, it was overdue for some major TLC. It needed a new rear cassette(11 –32T7Speed), new cables, and a major tuneup to get the rear dérailleur working correctly. End all… $ 300 – 320 in labor /parts. I also brought in my wife’s bike that I had just purchased … maybe 5 years ago for around $ 350 – 400 ish. It was due for some work like adjusting brake pads(or so I thought) and basic maintenance. I was pointed out to the fact that the rear wheel was bent and thus why the brakes were rubbing(nothing to do with the pads in fact). So… the owner was blunt… don’t waste the money on the bike.(I agree) I also went to the shop to purchase a new road bike with the expectation to spend around $ 1000 or so. They found that for me dead on the money. Plus shoes, plus pedals, plus plus plus. Now… I know, that’s what any shop would do so I am not faulting this particular shop at all for how much my bike ended up costing. I would just have liked to see a sticker on the bikes with an estimated total so that I can at least know about how much I’m really going to be spending. After all, you can’t ride a bike without pedals. As for the repairs, they were definitely more than I wanted to spend. At the end of the day, I purchased another mountain bike to replace mine and I’ll try to perform maintenance on my own and get the bike up and running to be used for my wife. I felt that spending the money on a new bike made much more sense then spending money twice on maintenance. The upside is … I will DEFINITELY be back. The staff took loads of time to talk to me. Well over 3 hours. Walked me through all sorts of bikes, how the cleats worked, shoes to buy, etc. I can’t say thank you enough.

Thank you for the response Tomias. It was well crafted. Now let me add a few things that I decided to leave out of my first review for the sake of brevity. 1. I mentioned to you that I was proud that my Cannondale was manufactured in America. When I asked you how long it has been since Cannondale made bikes in this country your response was a little off-putting. You told me that it was a good thing that they are no longer made in the U.S.A. because it is cheaper to manufacture and use newer technologies in other countries. Hmmm. I wonder why. Good thing your employees work in America. Worker’s protections and workplace standards are a little bit better for workers in this country than in most of the countries where these bikes are now made. 2. Once I realized that you were more concerned in selling me a new bike I thanked you for your help and stated that I had to take some time to decide how I wanted to precede. At that point you asked me what I needed to think about. While that was obviously a little pushy and intrusive, I told you that I wanted to get a second opinion. That is the EXACT moment where you made a general statement that cast doubt on the integrity of the other shops in the area. You said that«you have had other customers that had repairs done at other places in the area and those shops either did not properly diagnose the issues with the bikes or did not make the needed repairs.» Now, that seems like you were trying to scare me away from those shops. Didn’t work. 3. At this point I was definitely on to your game. Finally, right before I wheeled my bike out of your shop forever, I said that I was also considering purchasing parts and installing them myself. In a very condescending and arrogant manner you sharply replied«do you have a chain tool?» I responded that I did and you promptly disconnected my bike from the stand that you had placed it on in the back. Not sure why you left your cell number at the end of your response to my review. There is nothing further to discuss my friend. I simply thought it was my responsibility to let other people know what my experience was at your business. Yours truly, Eric

So I lost my dog back in August and I took it really really hard. In September We were planning on doing the Ice Cream Bike Ride they offer, While we were there my husband suggested I check out new bikes to replace my 20 year old Sears bike claiming we would look as a possible Christmas gift. We were hooked up with a salesperson, actually I think the sales guy was the owner. I told him that I do 99% of my riding on the Tow Path(fine gravel/paved) and was concerned about getting a bike that was not too small for my height. The salesperson brought down a bike with skinny road tires and was like a pearl white in color. I was not thrilled with the color and questioned the skinny tires. It was a $ 600 bike, the salesmen said I could«just buy new tires», WTH why buy a bike with tires I have no use for. Never once did he offer for me to sit on the bike or take it for a spin. It seemed it was THAT bike or no bike, regardless if it was the right size, I couldn’t use the equipped tires and didn’t like the colors. Now all along I thought my husband was really getting this closer to Christmas, I mentioned that to the salesmen. He replied(in a snotty way) «shopping for a bike NOW is like shopping for a cell phone 3 months before your going to buy»!!! He handed me his card ANDWALKEDAWAY!!! OMG I was crushed. Little did I know my husband was prepared to buy ANY bike I picked out in an effort to help me feel better after losing my dog. What a disappointment !! We ended up going the following night and buying a $ 600 plus $ 100 in accessories at a bike shop in Emmaus! Terrible customer service, really not sure how they’ve been in business this long!!!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. I am going to recommend them to my bike friends. I thought the service department was excellent in the work and the explanation of what needed to be done.

After searching at least half a dozen bike shops in Brooklyn and Manhattan for my perfect bike, I was fortunate to have found Genesis while on a shopping trip in Pennsylvania. I was drawn by the gigantic bicycle on the roof, visible from highway 22. I browsed the shop for a few short minutes before being approached by a salesman. I explained what I was looking for and started trying out the new bikes on the floor. I didn’t see any used bikes but I asked anyway, and SCORE! They had a small selection of used bikes in the back left over from their annual Spring sale, and that is where I found my perfect bike. I took a lot of time taking the used bike and one of the new bikes I was considering for test runs around the city. The salesman was very patient and not at all pushy. I bought the used bike because it felt like a better fit and in my opinion was a smoother ride. I’ve done some research and I do believe the price to be very fair. Even thought I live no where near this bike shop, when I’m in the market for a new bike I would probably come back.

I was told by someone that this was a great place to go, but when I brought my bike there to have some work done, they were going to charge me $ 180 to $ 200 for work that The Bikeline in Bethlehem charges less than $ 100. Genesis shop does a lot of group rides, so if you are looking for a community with which to do rides and a really expensive bike, this might be the place for you. But if you are looking for reasonable rates for the same quality work, look elsewhere.

I think this is a good place to go if you want a family bike. I went there and was told a good bike for me was the Quick series in Cannondale. I looked at it, thought it was a bit feminine but wanted to do research online. When I went back for a test ride it was raining and I was told I couldn’t go outside. Now this was the 3rd time I was at this place, I was so annoyed I just left. Turns out it was the best thing to happen to me because I found another local bike shop that really Specializes in «fit» and he put me in the perfect bike!!! I really think that the bike Genesis was going to put me in was all wrong for me, and I know that now. So moral of my story is the crazy hours that Genesis has, it deterred me from buying here and I found the perfect bike shop for me, Cycle Fitters! Sorry but it’s true! Every time I went to go to Genesis they were closed! Lose the crazy hours people, it’s losing business for you! Overall I think they have a good selection of bikes, have a friendly staff, but they lack experience in putting people with the right bike for their needs though.

I don’t agree with the 1st2 reviews here; you can’t say it’s overpriced without actually going around comparing prices(with other shops, not online). now, they do cater to the higher end of the market. there aren’t any $ 159 bicycles there, and yes, cannondales and treks do have models up into the multi-thousand dollar range, so if you are just ‘kicking tires’ and looking at price tags, you might be put off. Genesis is great if you know where their strengths are, and that is family cycling. they are not a so-called ‘pro shop’ that has exotic frames hanging from the rafters, but instead is a full service bike shop that is geared towards recreational cyclists who want quality bicycles. you will not be intimidated by tattoo’d smug shop rats, but will be met by regular people who will spend the time with you to get you the right bicycle. they have a complete(meaning, any repair, wheelbuilding, hydraulic brake servicing, fork rebuilding, etc) service department and they stand behind their work. they’ve been there in downtown Easton for over 30 years, run by the same guy, they must be doing something right.

Sales staff is great, but they are a bit pushy… It’s like buying a car when you are there. When you leave you realize you just dropped quite a bit of money in a very short amount of time. They are extremely overpriced compared to other shops, but they don’t have competition in the area. That being said, it is still a good shop. They offer 3 month financing on bikes(hey they cost a few grand) They are very involved in the community by having free bike rides virtually everyday of the week and with their bike to the moon annual campaign.

If you got lots of money to spend the salespeople will be more than friendly. it is an OK bike shop rated as one of the best in the region-I can understand why-not many premium bike shops around-so Genesis kind of gets that rating by default. I bought a few things here in the past and found their prices to be higher than suggested retail on most items. He does have a great sale from time to time on bikes-if you like riding Cannondale and Trek. I think much better deals are to be had online. The sales staff is a bit rude and tries to push you off and hurry you through the buying process.
