Every innkeeper and every B&B is full of stories and the McDaniel House is no exception. Maybe you can read some stories on the net, the really good ones you have to enjoy over morning coffee with the innkeepers. While the house is 150+ years old, it was renovated about a decade ago after workers restoring the roof accidentally set the 1865 tar-paper on fire. The 5-alarm blaze destroyed much of the 3rd floor. That could have been the end of the McDaniel House. But the innkeepers persevered and lovingly restored the place to what you see today. Along the way they made a fantastic choice not to «modernize» the house too much. Uneven floors were left uneven, pushbutton light switches were kept, and many other great details that only an old home lover would appreciate remain. To me, this is the charm of an old house and why we stay in B&Bs. There are fireplaces in most rooms, big windows, and all the odd angled corners that make a Victorian so special. The McDaniel House will be our place to stay in Easton, I recommend you make it yours.
