J.W.‘s is in Rex’s Kelly Deli’s old spot. Rex moved down 8 mile a few blocks into Harper Woods. I thought I’d roll the dice and try this out. I got a carryout. Ribs: Interesting. The best pieces were put at the top it seems, they had nice smoke infusion and were semi-tender. The middle of the pile were really saucy but not so much smoke infusion, the meat kind of chewy like beef jerky but in a good way. The sauce was good, it tasted like it had some teriyaki like flavors, actually pretty decent. One or two of the pieces near the bottom tasted not as fresh as the top pieces, overall though the ribs were plentiful and decent. Mac N’ Cheese: It looked good in the cup and the first taste was good but after eating it awhile it I didn’t care for it. A higher quality cheese or a decent processed cheese(Velveeta, Cheese Whiz, etc.) would have been better. Baked Beans: They were ok. Bread: plain wonderbread slices. Comments: The sauce and the smoke in the ribs(some of them) were good but inconsistent throughout. If I try them again I’ll get some different sides. Service was pleasant. Rating 2.75 Stars
