You can get some kitschy or cheap mugs as souvenirs from a bunch of other stores on the island(I mean, I bought a bunch of those also) but if you get one from here, you really feel connected with the island and its community. You know the stuff was made on the island by a person who lives there. There’s just something that feels so much nicer about that than your typical souvenir mug that might say«Orcas Island» on it. They have so much stuff there(so not just mugs!). Aside from the beautiful pottery they sell, make your way up to this store anyway even if you aren’t planning on buying anything. The location is amazing. It’s essentially in the middle of the forest. It feels quintessentially Orcas Island being there. They have a great backyard and there’s also a treehouse! The view is also great. Overall, this is a must see if you’re visiting Orcas. If you want, skip the mugs you can get at other stores and buy one here.

This place is one of the best spots on Orcas Island. It’s hard to imagine you could walk through here and not buy something. The setting is just as much the attraction. I would love to pack a picnic and have lunch in the treehouse or on the water front lawn(don’t know that they’d appreciate that) but the setting is so nice. I bought a few pieces and had them shipped home. Great service and delivery!

Don’t be shocked by the rather long dark forestry drive, it’s worth it. First the view from this place is worth the stop. They have a large selection of beautiful pottery. They have plates, cups, vegetable steamers and numerous other items. Prices are a little high. A coffee cup will run you about $ 16. They also have this really cute treehouse too. Overall it’s just an interesting place to check out.

Unfortunately i had a negative customer experience in Orcas Island Pottery. The B&B where i stayed recommended this place and so me and my little dog went. We arrived at 10am(thats when it said it is open). We tried to catch a ferry so were there right at 10am. It was still closed until i gave up and decided to go somewhere else. All of a sudden the person appeared — about 10:15 and opened the gate. They saw us(as we were the only ones by the door) but did not say sorry or welcome. Anyways — on we went. There was noone inside and i started looking. I brought my small dog in as everyone was dog friendly in Orcas. All of a sudden a cat appeared. Then the cat owner(business owner too i guess) came out and without saying hello stated that the cat attacks dogs on leashes(?). I was confused as to what we are supposed to do. Anyhow, cat was moved to a room inside. I was planning to actually purchase quite a few pottery items, however, it turned out we were not welcome. The cat came out from the room and owner came out and told us that i have to may be tie the dog somewhere. What? And they trying to sell pottery to customers? Its all about experience — they dont honestly think anyone NEEDS a mug priced at 28 $, but customer may buy it as an art piece and if experience is enjoyable. Having one customer inside would not you think they will lock the cat in for 15 mins? I guess not, but anyways, its their business so i said she shouldnt worry we will just leave and she said: «Yes». So in summary for those who have dogs, be prepared you may not be welcome as well as your money. After this experience i went to Crow Valley Pottery and received a great customer service and purchased few nice art pieces.

Absolutely a great place to find island pottery at reasonable prices. We went in to several pottery places, but choices(for us) were slim and the prices were outrageous. We headed towards Deer Harbor and saw the signs for Orcas Island Pottery. We stopped and boy, are we glad we did! Definitely recommend!

This place is phenomenal. I only wish it was closer to home, so I could go shopping more often. Unlike what other viewers said about the prices, we thought the prices were below market. We had a hard time choosing what to buy, but finally settled on a lidded jar. It was too heavy to carry home, but they were able to ship it to us.

Great spot for art, off of the beaten path. A number of pottery artists use this studio space to create and sell their wares. A lot of great pottery of different looks to suit almost any décor. A great place to grab a gift for someone while visiting the island!

This is definitely one of the store on the island to spend the most money! When I say the most, I mean over $ 100. The pottery here is NOT what you will find at Target or Pier 1… everything is SO beautiful & unique! I wanted lets just say, EVERYTHING! If you have a house and want new dishes, serving dishes, cups, etc this is definitely the place to buy beautiful new items! To get there you have to go through a tiny(very tiny and narrow) lane through what may look like the woods, but you end up at the house! There is a cute treehouse in the back to jump in for photos and climb, I don’t recommend taking kids here as everything seems very fragile!

I love the space. The little tree house and the backyard on the water is so cute! We went up the tree house and some employees were nice enough to take a pic for us. Then I went and played on the swing. haha. We didn’t buy anything because a. it was really pricy; b. everything looked the same. They all have the same pattern and color scheme, neither of which I loved. It was all really well-done, but just didn’t love any of it enough.

This is probably my favorite pottery vendor on the island, and perhaps beyond. I don’t like everything they sell, but that’s not how I judge a pottery store… When I come here looking for a certain type of vessel, I’m able to find what I’m looking for. For my most recent purchase, I was looking for a coffee mug, roughly 12 – 15 oz. in volume, with a comfortable handle, a thin rim, and a clean, opaque glaze. I found a few mugs meeting these criteria and picked the one with the nicest paint job. The price, at $ 22, was fair for a quality, hand-made, beautiful mug. It’s now my second-favorite mug in my cupboard. Should I ever break it, I know where to find a similar(but not identical) replacement. Orcas Island Pottery also sells many decorative pieces, such as vases, candlestick holders, and small animals.

We went to Orcas Island Pottery on the way back to the Ferry. We had about 10 min only before they closed at 5pm. Lots of cool pottery. Who knew pottery was so popular on Orcas Island. They had 3 small buildings full of pottery, pottery on the walls, pottery in the garden in the back, pottery on picnic tables & the picnic seats. Nice fountains. They have the coolest tree house! We went up the stairs to it too. Nice view of Puget Sound. Recommended

WOW, this place is amazing. You definitely should stop by while on Orcas. Not only do they have have beautiful pottery from island artists, but the setting is breathtaking. We spent a while there, and I could have stayed even longer. Don’t even think about it, just GOTHERE!

Everytime I visit my parents in Rosario, I go to the Anthony Howe Sculpture gallery and then I come here to Orcas Island Pottery. The drive itself is fun. But the point overlooking where the are located is heavenly. You could stay there forevery … it’s just one of those incredibly pinch-yourself beautiful, peaceful spots on planet earth. Great place to buy a gift for a friend. I bought a platter with crystal somehow in it … ice ceramics or something. and gave it to a friend for his wedding. It’s prominently displayed in their home as art

This place is absolutely magical… secluded on a heavily forested road, the path leads you through a garden accented with fabulous ceramics en plain air. There is an awesome treehouse and friendly cats wandering around. Though there’s a small shop, most of the pottery is displayed outside, and it stays there until it’s sold. There were all sizes of bowls and mugs in gorgeous abstract patterns and colors. I think what made it more modern than hippy was the use of shiny glazes and metallics. I didn’t think the prices were outrageous… I bought two stunning mugs for my mom for $ 22 each and a medium size spouted bowl for maybe $ 40? I got it home and it looks amazing in my kitchen. Not like a craft fair item that looks good in its setting but completely out-of-place once you get home. A couple was even there for their wedding registry which I thought was awesome. OIP carried everything from rice bowls to sake sets to huge decorative pieces. Definitely worth the trip out there!

Orcas Island Pottery is hidden down a dirt road and little trail, overlooking the glitttering Puget Sound. Artisan pottery is clustered in the open throughout the property, as well as within the store. The merchandise is expensive, but it is worth going for the setting alone.
