This is a wonderful treasure in downtown Eau Claire! It’s a treat for family dinners, date nights, or work-related meals. They constantly change their menu so don’t expect to see your favorite dish next month, however, it’s a great way to try new things and change up your pallet. Very fresh ingredients(in fact, they grow their own herbs and some vegetables out back) and you always know that you will get a high quality meal. Service has always been great… servers are attentive and friendly, we never had an empty water glass! You used to get served bread complimentary but now it is $ 3, and worth every penny. I could fill up on an order or two and be completely satisfied… it comes with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and a couple butters(garlic and cilantro). It’s a nice atmosphere, I like being able to see outside in the dining room, but the bar area is also very relaxing and yet lively. The prices are as expected, it’s not your cheapest avenue in the area but you are getting your money’s worth with the excellent service, atmosphere, and quality of food.

DELICIOUS! What a find! We were visiting Chippewa Falls for a wedding over New Year’s weekend and were struggling to find a restaurant open on New Year’s Day. How happy I am that we stumbled upon Mona Lisa’s in nearby Eau Claire! This eclectic restaurant offers a wide variety of Mediterranean influenced dishes in a kooky atmosphere(the play off of the name Mona Lisa means countless portraits of the namesake ranging from one as a hipster to one as a farmer!). An extensive wine list, craft cocktails and generous portions of well-made food left us happy customers. I enjoyed the house made gnocchi with brussel sprouts, and my boyfriend enjoyed the sun dried tomato chicken and pasta. We had tiramisu and salted caramel ice cream for dessert. Everything left us stuffed to the gills and utterly satisfied. I am usually more of a wine drinker, but I tried their gin cocktail with lemon and thyme and was glad I did — scrumptious! Our only down side to this restaurant? That it’s in Eau Claire and not closer to where we live! Don’t miss Mona Lisa’s while you’re in Eau Claire!

Wonderful cocktails and wine-list. The food, including appetizers, salads and the yummy pizzas, is reliably delicious, especially if you avoid things that seem to feature cream from the description. Not a great place for conversation amongst a group because of the decibel level in the rooms.

No contest, the best Italian in Eau Claire. Potentially the best fine dining in Eau Claire overall. It is of course pricier than your average meal but the flavor, ambience, and unique array of choices is worth it. The rotating seasonal menu keeps your options fresh, a rare feature in this area. I have forever for the tortellini Rockefeller, baked feta, and mushroom ravioli. Mmmmmmmm mmm!

I like this place and had a ok meal. Service is rookie and very slow. Food was nothing special and bland. Not worth the outrageous prices.

Husband had a birthday so after reading reviews tried it out. The appetizer called the board was terrific. We shared the scallops and and red snapper was awesome followed by double chocolate raspberry brownie for dessert. Only one disappointment was when the bill came they charged for refill ice teas and didn’t tell us ahead. YIKES…

Eau Claire is not known for its vegetarian fare but Mona Lisa is a veggie gem in the land of meat lovers. We had the Ratatouille and spinach pasta with artichokes. Portions are huge. Loved the ambiance and easy parking and location. Next visit will be back.

What a creative restaurant, both in décor and food. Unilocal says it is Italian/Mediterranean, but I found that a lot of the dishes had Asian influence, because of the head chef’s recent trip to Thailand. Upon walking in, we saw paintings of Mona Lisa parodies all over the walls and ceilings, and chandeliers of old wine bottles. Cute! We ordered the calamari appetizer. This is not your typical calamari dish; the squid is sautéed in a light butter sauce, and then baked in a small dish with a breaded crust. It was tasty, but the portions were too small for the price. The entrees were very, very good. It seems that they change the menu often, so I couldn’t look up exactly what I ate. But we had a crusted pink snapper, which was remarkably fresh and flaky. It lay on a bed of cucumber ribbons, bok choy, and tomatoes in a cilantro sauce. It was so refreshing, and the vegetables were all tender. The two shrimp were also perfectly grilled and so tender. Definitely a high quality dish, and at a very reasonable price. We also ordered a fusilli chicken pasta, with mushroom cream sauce. The fusilli was cooked perfectly al dente, and the chicken was flavorful. The real star, however, was the mushroom sauce. They used crushed shiitake, which gave the sauce an unbelievable smoky flavor. This was a real gem, great quality and great price. Eau Claire is lucky to have it!

Great place for appetizers or dinner. We had drinks at the comfortable couch seats while waiting for our table. Our table was nestled in a window seating. Great atmosphere. We had a blast taking photos of ourselves as Mona Lisa.

This is a tough one. After reading the reviews I really wanted to love this place, but in the end I was disappointed. After we were seated it took nearly 15 minutes to be waited on. That being said, once we were attended to the service was very good. We sat on the patio which was very nice. The food and drinks were expensive! Nothing was on the house with bread being listed as an appetizer. This is normally fine, but if I’m going to pay $ 19 for a pasta dish, it would be nice to have some bread on the side. The presentation of the food was awesome, but the flavor was disappointing. I had the homemade gnocchi which was beautifully presented but bland and uninspired.

In town on business, at Mona Lisa for dinner… again! Finally found the outdoor patio which was a very welcomed surprise. We started off with a unique bottle of wine, followed by dinner, then dessert. Consequently had drinks and apps at their sister spot– Stella Blue(high marks too). Dinner, service and ambiance was as expected– fantastic. We had the sausage pasta, salmon, scallops and I’m sorry Emily– didn’t even see what you had because you Literally inhaled it, but it looked like a warm bowl of comforting pasta. Coming in from Chicago, it’s a welcomed break from the«usual» overpriced and often overcrowded restaurants I frequent. Kudos to the warm hearted staff for reseating us(mid meal) from the dining room to the garden out back. Looking for another excuse to come back to town and enjoy what in my humble opinion is one of the Midwest’s most enjoyable spots.

5 stars across the board. This is definitely a gem in Eau Claire. Carrot soup was very good. Calamari app was a bit strange and not what I expected. Server should have clarified that they are going to come out in a bowl with breading and not individually breaded. Still excellent but not what I expected. Bourbon Scallops were perfectly cooked and while 3 seemed skimpy, with the bed of risotto, they filled me up nicely. Salted caramel ice cream was excellent One of the great things is that the server picked up that this was a business dinner and was very respectful of our space. Even when we stayed long after everyone had left, she did not rush us. Food also came out at the right time with enough space for conversation but not so much space that we were asking where’s the food.

Not as good as it used to be. I’m very sad. No free bread anymore. Sangria had one orange slice. That’s it. The menu said mixed fruit. My husband had chicken breast and risotto but it didn’t say bone in chicken. Our waitress was very awesome, her name is jessica.

We took the advice of other Unilocalers and tried this restaurant before seeing a show(we’re from Minneapolis & were just visiting). We loved everything about this place! Highly recommended!

We had the duck with cherry sauce, the New York strip, the feta cheese appetizer, and the artichoke hearts. The atmosphere is really cool! It’s a fancy restaurant with a very casual atmosphere. The duck literally fell apart at the touch of a fork! The appetizers were also super-delicious. The steak was actually much tougher than it should have been for $ 30. Overall, the food was absolutely delicious, but its worth was about $ 8 less per entrée than the actual price.

The ambiance is wonderful! They had a nice fire going in the fireplace and it was vey romantic. The wine is quite expensive so I ended up getting a pomegranate martini which wasn’t great. We ordered the wonton shrimp appetizer which was okay. For the entrée I ordered the seafood ravioli, the seafood part was just okay, but the ravioli and sauce was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend ordered the tortellini pesto and it was also very good. Overall a good experience.

Mona Lisa’s might be the only place worth eating at in Eau Claire. The food and service are excellent. The only thing I would change is that they are closed on Sunday and Monday.

Celebrated our Wedding Anniversary this evening, very disappointed. Venue is extremely noisy. I had the salmon, it was way overdone and served lukewarm. My wife had a pasta dish, it was drenched in olive oil drowning out any flavor from the vegetables it was served with. This is a long way from Fine Dining!
