I’ve had a friend give me some of the good food that came out of this place. Today I went to go in and order some for myself. Didn’t happen. Upon entering you are in a large box of a room with people standing at the glass for no reason. I hate dealing with bullet proof glass as it is, but they made the idiotic decision to mirror the entire glass… You cannot see the cashier or cooks. I thought I saw someone try to make eye contact with me but never said anything. After waiting five minutes and not being cared for, while the cashier would help someone else walking right in the door for a pickup, I was done. I walked out. Never going back here again.

The Shrimp Hut is a Downriver Institution and it’s been at this very same location since at least the 1960’s. they Specialize in southern style Deep Fried Battered Shrimp, Fish and Chicken. Fresh southern style crispy fried deliciousness. this is the closest to Dott and Ettas since they shut down. This place is a landmark in Ecorse. I drive from midtown to get their golden crispy jumbo shrimp. the Chicken is also a very tasty treat. their battered shirmp/chicken is fried in peanut oil. this heats up quickly and seals the food inside so that when you bite in, it’s crispy, juicy and delicious. it’s fried food but its not greasy. try the shrimp fish or the chicken and you won’t be disappointed. they have fries, sides and desserts too. this place takes call in’s to cut the wait time and believe me it’s a good idea to call ahead especially on Friday or Saturday nites when the locals flood in.
