Wow. And wow again. Clean, fresh and just about the best oysters I have ever had. $ 18/dozen large. Lovely owner who came out to chat — even in off season. We will be back!

Zero frills, fresh, family run oyster farm. A little hard to find(looks like it is located in the front yard of a family residence.) loved this place, the oysters could not have been any fresher.

I agree with the other reviewers that these are the freshest oysters you can get. Personally, the XL Glidden Point oysters are one of my most fav foods ever.(I had them years ago for the first time in Grand Central Oyster in Manhattan where I am from). I loved them so much I was going weekly but it got to be a very expensive habit). When I discovered the GP oyster farm, I was beyond excited to go. I had a dozen today(half the price almost of Grand Central Oyster and obviously fresher), shucked by one of the owner’s daughters(who is so nice). I was in heaven. I loved them so much I sent 2 dozen to my brother, who has never tried GP XLs but loves oysters. He will love me so much more after he receives them Friday. It doesnt get better than sitting on a picnic table slurping those GP XLs.

Terrific local secret. Excellent oysters, great prices and if you forget your knife, you can buy one there and enjoy oysters sitting on the picnic tables in the summer sun. Not much can compete.

Best oysters in the world. Yes, make a note of it. Nice people. You can sit outside on their picnic benches and BYOB. Had 3 dozen oysters and some Maine brew. Perfect outing. Thx for shucking Morgan!

I don’t know about surely staff we had the most pleasant young lady help us. Ok this is one of those odd places in my book that you go to for the best of one thing and in this case that is oysters. After my wife had her way most of the morning I said go here I want to check it out. Small stand in the middle of nowhere. The woman was patient and answered all my question. I bought a dozen oysters($ 20), select(the next size up was their largest and they seemed a bit much). They have a couple of picnic tables with oyster knives and gloves so you shuck the oyster yourself. As my wife avoided looking at the oysters I proceeded to tuck into the freshest oysters I have had, very good. I assume most people would take the oysters home but we were at an inn and not able to. Go here for one thing only, curing your oyster cravings. Be prepared to work for it.

I agree with the previous reviewer. The oysters here taste great. As a result of their(and others’) efforts to farm oysters, natural ones have reemerged in the Damariscotta area. On this visit we had a choice of three sizes. The largest ones are huge and were $ 2.50 each.(they are about seven years old). The other two smaller sizes were $ 1.50 and $ 1.25 each. The taste is well described by the first reviewer. I have never had fresher. They are easy to find by GPS; there is a blue sign on the road on Route 1 both north and southbound. The sign said honor system but as soon as we arrived, a young man came out of the house to provide service. No rudeness on his part at all; in fact he was quite polite and helpful. He even provided us with free ice. By the way, he had lobsters too– hard shells and shedders(They are lobsters that just shed their shell and the new one is hardening. They yield less meat but have a slightly different, sometimes sweeter taste.). They also sell paraphernalia like oyster knives, if you forgot yours, as well as Glidden t shirts and other souvenir-ish items. Definitely worth the one mile detour from Route 1
