Red’s BBQ operates a mobile vending trailer at the locations listed below in the Charlotte area: Wednesday — Tryon St /Charlotte, NC(Beside Bank of America Building) Thursday — Big Lots Parking Lot /Lancaster, SC Friday — Tryon St /Charlotte, NC(Beside Bank of America Building) Saturday — 5721 Carmel Rd /Charlotte, NC I occassionally catch them on Wednesday’s uptown. Their BBQ plates are pretty big and come with a nice helping of BBQ, two buns, slaw, and baked beans. The BBQ is nice and clean(doesn’t have a lot of fat in it) but it’s no where near the best I’ve ever had. It’s missing that really good smoky flavor that I crave when I look for really good BBQ. I’m a bit of a BBQ snob so I’m quite the critic when it comes to the Q. They give you the choice of 4 or 5 different homemade BBQ sauces which are pretty good and really help the BBQ out. Their slaw is AWESOME, its cut nice and fine just like I like it! A BBQ plate will cost you about $ 8 or $ 9 but it’s a lot of food. You can get a combo plate and throw some ribs in there with it for about $ 11 or $ 12. I must say that the ribs are really good, no complaints there. I give Red’s the A-Ok(3 stars) because you get plenty of food and all in all its not that bad. Also the folks that run the mobile trailer are very friendly. If you are at one of their locations give them a try, you probably won’t be completely blown away but you won’t be disappointed either. Don’t forget the slaw :)!
