A little bit of the south in the Midwest. A place where you can order alligator, get a decent po’boy, jambalaya and if you get there on the right day, barbecue brisket. My favorite place to hang out and drink margaritas. Crawfish tails are fantastic.

Fantastic gumb. Also had the sampler platter — gator, crawfish, and catfish. All good. With excellent dipping sauces. We will be back.

I think there’s potential for Emigail’s to be a lot of fun, but service left a lot to be desired. We came in for my boyfriend’s birthday and were seated quickly — when we arrived around 7:30 or 8 on a Tuesday there were only a couple other tables occupied. Two people helped us get our table set up with two high chairs and our drink order was taken pretty quickly. After receiving our drinks we were left for about ten minutes before the server returned and said, «Oh, I’ll get you some menus.» We were left again without any mention of specials or edits to the menu — everyone at the other tables had margaritas which makes me curious if there was a special on them, and when my boyfriend’s mother ordered catfish the response was«we’re out of that.» Not a huge deal for either, but further illustrating that our server didn’t seemed super concerned about our table. Tables of eight or more have 20% gratuity added automatically; we were a table of eight. Eventually our food came. I ordered the barbecue chicken with a baked potato: — Salad: iceberg lettuce with one slice of cucumber and one wedge of tomato. The tomato was mealy and mushy — my boyfriend didn’t want his so I picked it up off his plate and impressions from my fingers remained. Ick. — Chicken: two breasts with a hefty dose of seasoning; barbecue sauce came on the side. The chicken was decent quality and cooked well. I personally didn’t care for the seasoning or the sauce, but that didn’t surprise me with the cajun theme — I tend to not be into that flavor profile. I did appreciate that they weren’t shy with the flavors, though! — Baked potato: good but nothing special. Served with a pat of butter in the middle and a paper cup of sour cream on the side. The server didn’t seem to have experience with children — we had to request a plate to split their meal and when we asked for waters she brought out full glass pints; we had to request small plastic glasses like they were given for milk. Again, not a huge deal, but it doesn’t really encourage me to come back. We mentioned it was my boyfriend’s birthday in passing to the server and she didn’t smile or wish him a happy birthday. Boyfriend isn’t into birthdays so he didn’t care, but I love birthdays so I was a little bummed for him. It’s not like we asked for anything or tried to squeeze out a special — we just said he could take the last chicken wing because it was birthday before she took the plate. My boyfriend and his family have been here many times over the years and have enjoyed it, but I personally won’t be heading back unless by their choice. There are closer places with much better service for the caliber of food.

Awesome place! We are new to the area, and decided to try Emigail’s because it’s so close to home. We were not disappointed. We ordered the gator bites, jambalaya, shrimp etouffe, & roadhouse alfredo. All of our meals were delicious, we cannot wait to go back and try more dishes on the menu. Great place to go!

I will say I give this place and Scott 5 Stars for several reasons… its off the main trail so to speak on State Road 59 right by The Lake. and across from Blue Gilly’s Pancake House. It looks like a Dive just because of where it’s at by the campgrounds all around the Lake. But it’s very plain inside and wide open with a small Bar 12 seats at the bar… but Scott and his Crew are aa Very Friendly and happy group… I was really suprised to find several menu items that just don’t appear in Da’ North ya know. Deep Fried Alligator Tail Gumbo Yaya Jambalaya Crawfish Étouffée And a Crawfish PoBoy Along with a mix of other great foods. Debbie did the Cajun Chickin Salad And I had the Crawfish PoBoy WOW Great food, very decent pricing, Great Place. I see Road Trip Again Soon.

I really want to love this place — it’s sort of divey and the locals who have reviewed it seem to love this place. I’ve been here twice — neither time was the food bad but it wasn’t really impressive either. This time around I thought I give it the old college try. We ordered the Gater Bites, Jambalaya, Smoked Ribs, and Smoked Prime Rib. The Gater Bites had a nice flavor but seemed a bit over cooked and chewy. The Jambalaya was oddly bitter served on white rice that may have been instant rice. The Ribs had an ok flavor, but they were not smokey and were badly over cooked to the point of being crunchy. The Smoked Prime Rib was definitely the star of this meal. It came cooked to a delightful medium rare. There was a subtle smokiness to the tender meat, both my dining companion and I really like the Prime Rib. The Ribs and the Prime Rib dinners came with a sort of lifeless salad — probably pre-prepared bagged Iceberg lettuce with a cucumber slice on the side. You also got to choose a side — we chose the baked potatoes… The potatoes were OK, but they could have been a bit warmer. While the dining room was tidy and clean, I can’t say the same for the men’s room. The walls were in bad shape, there was a thick coat of dust over the vent. Out of paper towels, but there was a blow dryer. I was informed by my dining companion that the lady’s room was clean and in good shape. As I noted above, I really want to like this place. The service is good and the staff seems very appreciative of their customers. I’ll likely give it another try when I’m in the neighborhood again. I’m hoping to be able to update with more stars in the future.

We order carryout and I always get the Chicken Gumbo. It’s just the right amount of heat and the flavor is fantastic. I want to try other stuff on the menu, but it’s just so hard to stray from the Gumbo! So far, it’s my favorite place to eat in the area.

The crawfish app is great. Very tasty. Also good is the crawfish poboy, crawfish and shrimp étouffée, I haven’t made it for the fish fry– never get up early enough from Chicago on a Friday night to try it. Very friendly servers and the drinks are good. The mural is cool.

Another terrific restaurant in the area, only with an unexpected surprise choice of dishes to please every palate, in addition to the usual fair!(see other reviews) I don’t associate gators with Wisconsin, but there you have it(smile) I was glad I didn’t miss the All-You-Can-Eat Brunch on Sunday, either, and from the looks on the rest of the patron’s faces, they felt them same.

This is a real gem in Newville, you would never expect to get the kind of quality for seafood that they provide. The shrimp are NOT your average bar fare, but real meaty and delightful by Wisconsin standards. The catfish is excellent. They used to have the best nachos I have ever gotten at the price, but they discontinued them =(The service is generally good as well. The prices are on the cheaper side too, which makes it even better.

Nice little restaurant(and bar)! Good food(burgers, pasta, jambalaya, gumbo), especially the Grilled Chicken dinner. Service was great, very friendly. Overall a nice small town dining experience close to the lake.
