we went in there the other day… all the tables were dirty, and we sat there for 5 minutes with no recognition that we were even there… nobody said«i will be with you in a minute»…or «take a seat»… or…“would you guys like some coffee”…we left and haven’t been back! NOT good service.

Been here a few times now as I travel to Madison or all points North. This has been a convenient stop for breakfast and… as I drive up to the storefront, the place is empty! Vacant and Void of Existence! I pull a U-Turn on the dead end street, thinking Damn! Turns out they moved… lucky for me, I noticed the place a few blocks to the east on Fulton Street. Huge glass windows provide a open view of the interior as I approach. I decide to take a seat at the 6 stool counter space. The back ledge of the counter top had several vintage platters(like your Grandma used to have) of fresh bakery… crumble cakes, muffin assortments, huge cup cakes with overflowing icing, flakey crust pies… I could go on. Very tempting… not today. The décor hosted several pictures of Marilyn Monroe, 50’s Diners and the«Rat Pack» playing pool… different! Georgia was the lone waitress. She was attentive. I know Georgia’s name for one reason… the cook(who I think may be the owner). Every time a breakfast order was ready, the cook would bellow loudly from the back room…“GEORGIA”. Georgia would respond(most times) «COMING» or «OK». She would complete the task at hand and head back to the kitchen to serve another order. I sat at my counter seat for about 35 minutes amazed at this unique interaction. Again… different. Breakfast was good, generous ham steak portion… the entertainment was better. For my next trip to the West End Diner, I will suggest some innovative technology to Georgia… give the cook a bell. «Ding…Ding». Great Place!

Simple fare, friendly service. Open for breakfast and lunch only, but they’re decent at what they do. The food is not phenomenal but I would certainly go back next time I need a quick meal in town.
