This is a place where doctors train. I believe this lack of experience might have helped killed my son. He was being seen at this Family Practice Center since birth. On multiple occasions I found something wrong with him. He had what is called Impetigo. If you go google it it’s hard not to see that this is not eczema. However since he was born with eczema, the doctors in training not once but twice said it was eczema, rather than go through with their own thoughts they just relied on previous work done by another doctor. So I caught this and KNEW with NOTRAINING that this was not eczema. It got so bad we had to go to the hospital to have it properly identified. They immediately came back and said it was impetigo. This is the skill difference between these doctors in training and a real doctor. My son also had vomiting issues. Constantly vomiting an unusual amount, rather than listening to us they did one test and as it turned out he didn’t have a defective stomach they just forgot about it. We took him there a total of maybe 5 times. After they gave up, we gave up. He died this year. Did they tell us he could die from acid reflux? No. Did they tell us to keep a close eye on him? No. Will they even know they didn’t do everything that they should have done? No. I am so incredibly tired of going into this office and knowing MORE than the doctors that work there and trained for over four years. I often have to make multiple appointments to the same office with different doctors in order to get something done. For instance I go cause I want to know what can be done genetically to test for possible conditions that might have lead to his death. The«doctor» tells me there are no tests of this kind. I just schedule another appointment with another doctor because I know he’s wrong. Guess what suddenly genetic tests exists. I haven’t fully decided for myself how much they contributed to his death through lack of effort/knowledge, but what I do know is they did not help. Just know that going here is like having a nurse practitioner in skill level, I’d even wager the nurse practitioner might have more experience, especially if they started out in hospitals. It’s to late for me to change PPCs to make a difference, but it’s not for you.

I moved from the Ohio side to the KY side and was recommended to the Family Practice Center. I have never ever had so much difficulty in getting an appointment, the folks at the desk are often unfriendly and have made me feel like I was inconveniencing them by even asking for an appointment. Because the doctors are in residency it seems like I am starting over each and every time I go there. I really feel like they are making me jump through hoops. I wish I had never bothered to switch from my Cincy doctor, life would have been so much easier. I recommend to find somewhere else where you won’t get lost in the shuffle.

My experience with this family practice group was positive. When I moved to this area, I started looking around for a physician, starting with my health insurance provider’s web site. I was pleased to discover that I could sort the choices not only by physician specialty but also by gender. Since I was accustomed to a female physician, I wanted to continue with one. After a few calls to practices who said they could not give me an appointment until they received a copy of my medical records, I called the Family Practice Center and asked if any of their physicians were accepting new patients. The staff member stated yes and provided a physician’s name. I got an appointment within a week and the office mailed the paperwork to me so I could complete it in advance. I had no trouble locating the practice since a map was included with the paperwork. Imagine my surprise, however, when the physician was male! In my quest for a practice that was accepting patients, I failed to realize that although there were plenty of female physicians in this group, it was not a solely female practice. It worked out fine, however. The staff was pleasant as was the doctor and I felt valued as a patient.

Unhappy with my son’s previous doctor, we moved to St. Elizabeth Family Practice after listening to my sister’s glowing accolades. And she was absolutely right(did I really just say that?). After my son’s first visit with Dr. Santos, I couldn’t be more pleased. She was engaging, warm, and reassuring. I’m so happy that my son is now a patient ofa facility that really understands the meaning of medical care.
