Edina Car Wash

I pass by this gas station all the time and am usually amused by their plainly religious ‘thought for the day’. Stopped here recently for a car wash, bought a car wash and while waiting for the wash, checked in through Unilocal.I was told I would get a buy one get one free because of the check in.
When I went in after my wash I found I would have to buy another wash to get the free offer. The staff did not appear very familiar with the offer, which is never a good sign.
The best part? An attendant hands you a moist rag to clean the inside of the car as you go through the wash. Nice touch.

The carwash was ok… but didn’t clean my car very well. asked if i could go thru again and they said i would need to pay for another. Ummm What?

The water seems brackish and some guy kept harassing me about Jesus.

This business supports an anti-​gay group. Will not do business with them for that reason.

I seldom leave one-​star reviews, but in my two-​time experience at this venue, I can effectively say that I wouldn’t recommend this place to Hitler himself, though he may have agreed with some of the offensive religious business that goes on here.
To begin with, I don’t expect much from customer service, as I work in the hospitality industry, and have experienced full-​grown men throw a temper tantrum in a hotel lobby over the fact that he wants a free room because the carpet color was ugly.
That said, I expect customer service. The employees in my visits have never been very nice, and I don’t appreciate the constant reminder that the owner is religious. The second time I was there (like another poster), there were religious groups pandering for money. While the cause might be good, I’m led to skepticism by what I have recently discovered about this place.
On a recent visit, a friend of mine found the attached image of a booth supporting «Minister» Bradlee Dean, a radical musician and youth minister that holds events in public schools called «You Can Run But You Cannot Hide». You might remember him when he was asked to speak earlier in 2011 in the Minnesota Congress for the opening prayer, in which he made disgusting comments regarding President Obama, to the point where even the religious conservatives in our government were embarrassed.
He has repeatedly been an advocate of the death penalty for homosexuals in both his preaching and his music.
Now, before anyone gets on me for being one-​sided, I am all for the right of a person to hold whatever convictions they desire, be it religious or otherwise. However, I cannot and will not support a business that proudly demonstrates their commitment to an individual who has said some of the most hateful, vile comments about fellow human beings that I’ve ever heard. No human being deserves to be villainized like that, nor do they deserve the death penalty for having the feelings they have — whether you agree with them or not.
I urge all of you to consider boycotting this station if you consider yourself even remotely GLBT friendly, or, more practically, respect-​friendly. Beyond all the divisive layers of this complicated issue, there is no reason a public business should be displaying this.
The religious mottos on the sign, the Christian music in the store — that’s fine. I am all about supporting different ideas and beliefs, and I do regularly. But this is different.
Whoever has made the decision to support Mr. Dean has made a disgusting choice, not because of their values or their convictions, but because they are indirectly supporting the kind of people that have created a cultural climate where countless youth in this country attempt to kill themselves because they are taught that they are something less than human because of how they feel. From what I’ve been told, the decision to sell this garbage comes from upper management outside of this individual property. All I can say to the owners of this property is that I’m sorry — it might not be your fault you have to sell this, but hopefully your owners take notice of this. They also own Grandview Tire & Auto — Cahill, Grandview Tire & Auto — Vernon, Edina Tire & Auto and ProTech Automotive. Just in case you were wondering.
Those are not Christian values.
I would encourage you all to boycott this business as you see fit. Just remember: it is not the individuals employed who make these decisions or hold these conviction: act respectfully and responsibly! Before ranting at the clerk working, remember there are always two ways to say the same thing.

I love the friendly staff here, they always have little motivational quotes on the sign, which kind of reads of how this place is. They have a great car wash, and good selection of snacks inside, along with CLEAN bathrooms.

It has gas.
I’ve called and written to ask the business to utilize their doors to reduce car wash noise and smell with no response. I close my doors/​windows when I want the stereo turned up. I only ask a similar courtesy from a neighbor.

I love the service. the car wash attendants always treat you great. So do the inside attendants. My only frustration is their $ 75 pump limit. To get the gas discount, it requires an ultimate car wash, which costs about $ 11. That only leaves $ 64 to fill your tank. My car has an 18 gallon tank, so with current gas prices, it requires 2 credit cards. I’m sorry, but a credit card should at least get you $ 100 worth. I can’t imagine what it takes for all the Edina folk and their suv’s. Get with the times Edina Car Wash, gas isn’t $ 1 any more.

I steadfastly supported this gas station/​car wash since moving to the neighborhood over a year ago. I knew it was locally owned, and it always seemed to provide a good price on gas, and a great car wash.
However, starting today, they will not receive one penny of my money going forward.
I pulled in today to get a fill up and a car wash, and was accosted by a religious group who were «just helping out» today. She grabbed my credit card out of my hand, and began asking me if I wanted a receipt, a car wash, etc… when I asked her what she was doing, she replied that they were out from Annandale, Minnesota, and that she belonged to a group that helped teens stay off drugs. Leary, I let her begin pumping my gas. Then she started telling me how she was raising money for a «teen bible and constitution based rock band» that saved kids from the horrors of teen life through lessons in «morality.» I began to protest, telling her that I wasn’t sure I really agreed with all of this. She proceeded to push out her hand and ask me to «help her out.» I told her that I wasn’t into giving money to people who mixed religion & politics & she interrupted & said that she was pretty sure the constitution was based on the bible, but I could go talk to her friend up at the table set up outside the front door, as she was really just there to collect donations. She again pushed out her hand in front of me. I declined again. She then whipped out to cards & told me that I should read them, as they contained «messages of savior & truth.» I left.
I’m very VERY disappointed in Edina Car Wash for allowing this fundraiser to go on at their business. I feel completely violated. This organization,
is the very same organization that regularly features a band that has repeatedly called for violence against homosexuals. It is the extremely conservative rightist organization whose affiliation with Minnesota Forward began the controversy surrounding Target & Tom Emmers.
Regardless of your political or religious affiliation, or likely because of it, you should be offended that a local business would subject you to this kind of disgusting panhandling.
No more of my money, Edina Car Wash. And you can bet your skeezy, right-​wing butt that I’m going to tell everyone I know!

This is my normal stop when I need to get gas or a wash. The wash is pretty cool, you can get the standard, or one where someone actually comes and washes your car for you as you glide through the tube of washiness! Not only that, but they give you a rag to wipe out the inside of your car as you travel through to the clean side.. BAD ASS.
Even the staff. the guys that work here. are really cool. I come in here a lot, so they know me by name, it is fun to chat with them for a while!
