Went through QualSight Lasik to find The Lasik Vision Institute and must say that my experience was great. The initial screening was with friendly staff though the testing had too be done two weeks later again b/c they hadn’t told me to remove my contacts prior to the scans but all ok. Second time, I was able to qualify for the PRK procedure. Surgery day was quick and easy though the doctor was not comforting at all to me, too busy talking to the nurses. Hello, you are messing with my eyes, how about comforting me! I’d recommend going to them still b/c in the end, my eyes are doing well and the procedure and recovery are top notch. No place is perfect, hence I took off one star.

Had my initial screening today. The staff was very polite and professional. The doctor recommended that I not do the surgery due to minimal correction needed. This honesty and obvious integrity is why I will refer my friends and family. This was my second screening. My first was at the whiting clinic in St Louis Park. My experience there aside from the nice facility and friendly staff, was an experience that led me to believe that they are out for the mighty dollar. Not to mention, I had a Groupon for the whiting clinic that I paid $ 300 for and just swallowed the loss and didn’t use the Groupon due to my experience. Go to the LASIK Vision Institute and do pay extra for things that don’t impact the end result, which is what happens at the whiting clinic.

Maybe a Unilocal first, I’m writing a review before actually receiving services. No fears, I’ll update in a few days because I’m taking the Lasik plunge. I was a little unnerved about this location, the completely non-descript beige building, nearly empty parking lot, and totally deserted lobby but felt completely at ease once I got into the suite. All the employees were very friendly, one woman might possibly be my best friend in another life. I felt as informed as I wanted to be, which wasn’t much(less is more in this case). I really appreciated that they managed to get me in over Thanksgiving weekend as I expressed my concern about having to miss too much work. But weird: nobody wears glasses. I mean that makes sense, but it’s still weird. Kind of pricey, I paid $ 1500 per eye, but got the custom plan — lifetime coverage as long as I get my eyes checked once a year. And I have super poor vision which is apparently a bit more expensive to fix. _____ Few days later: Okay so I now have 20⁄20 vision, thanks to the actual procedure yesterday, and according to the follow up this morning. It was totally freaky, but I don’t think that was unique to this location. The oddest thing was that there were about 6 of us scheduled at the same time, which I thought was weird but as it turns out the actual procedure took about 8 minutes. The rest of the time was spent with us waiting in blurry anticipation in the ante-room hearing creepy noises coming from the operating room. Be warned, though. As I walked into the OR I said«is that the smell of burning flesh?» Turns out it was. I took one star away because apparently other places give valium. I would’ve liked some valium.
