I don’t know if I went to the wrong restaurant or ordered the wrong thing, but I ordered pasta and sandwiches. The chicken was just wrong looking. Completely flat like it had been hammered. The tomato sauce was literally watery like a swamp with water on top and tomato paste on bottom. No flavor whatsoever literally tasted watered down. I combined pieces of pepper and chicken and literally still tasted like water. The meatballs tasted like those canned Vienna sausages or spam. Mozzarella sticks were pretty good though. They were seasoned and not the weird breaded type. I don’t leave negative reviews unless it’s really egregious and the food here really was kitchen nightmares style.

Since viewing good reviews, fairly new place and close to home, I finally gave a shot. I ordered plain pizza & veggie pizza for take out. The place is very clean, simple, no frill, yet tasteful cozy décor. The server was talking Italian with the customers at the table. Italian cookies are also sold.(All are good signs of authentic Italian!!) Crust and source of pizza are really good, yummy pizza beyond the expectation of taste from Unilocal’s reviews, yet cheap price. Feel lucky to find a little gem near by home. Would like to try restaurant menu and cappuccino next time.

It’s been about a year since Alberona opened and it is ever bit as good now as it was when I wrote my first review a year ago. The staff is friendly and welcoming and they haven’t suffered from the same rotating staff problems that the pizza place in the same location did. While a few people have come and gone the people there now have been there for the long haul and they do a great job running the place. The food is amazing and always cooked fresh. Whether you are taking out or dining in, Alberona always has excellent pizza and other Italian food. If you walk in for lunch they have single slices available as well as daily sandwiches and stuffed slices. They have a standard soda refrigerator so you have a large selection of drinks to choose from. They do not have a liquor liscence so they cannot offer you alcohol, but they welcome you to bring your own and will offer you glasses. Overall I love going to Alberona and will continue to do so in the future. I wish them much success as they enter their second year!

Considering this place is less than a half mile away from my house, I needed to try it. Pretty good pizza. For vegetarians, they have a decent amount of options.

Very disappointed with the food. Margarita pizza arrived stone cold. Eggplant parm sub was quite salty. Delivery was also later than stated.

I used to frequent this location when it was still called Mario’s. I came home from college one semester to find that Mario’s was gone. Today I was craving something to satisfy my pizza craving so I decided to give this new restaurant a shot. The Unilocal reviews were mostly enthusiastic. I read that the food took some time to come out so I called ahead and ordered 2 large pies for pick-up. I wish that they had a website up with a menu, but I based one my selections off of the Unilocal reviews. I ordered one large veggie pie and one large ham and mushroom pie(a childhood favorite). Just to give you an idea of the prices the large cheese pies are $ 12 with $ 2 extra for every topping. Altogether the bill was about $ 35.50 for two large pies. It was a little bit more than I expected, but all in all it wasn’t a bad deal. The pies were ready within 20 minutes and they arrived piping hot back to my house. The veggie pizza was loaded! Looking at it was exciting because of how many vegetables were on it. The brocolli and breaded eggplant really caught my eye(and my tastebuds once I tried them). Everything tasted fresh and delicious! Definitely a good recommendation from the Unilocal reviews. The ham and mushroom was familiar and tasty as well, but I couldn’t help eating a third slice of pizza just so I could taste the veggie pizza again. I was full, but not overstuffed. I think this is due to the general lack of heavy grease. I will definitely go back to try other selections from their menu. Pictures of the menu are still to come!

I’ve had the margherita pizza a couple times. It was absolutely delicious! Asked them to add a little more sauce after my first order. The crust is absolutely Perfect! and just the right amount of cripsy. The garlic knots were pretty good too. Veggie pizza was just ok, nothing exceptional I’ve had better. The staff was very friendly and even gave me a free slice to try of an interesting pie.

I live nearby to this place and was glad to see that someone has taken it over. The old place was getting very seedy. The new owners have done a nice job of cleaning up and fixing up. I ordered a chicken parm sandwich to go as a way of trying them out. It was excellent — overstuffed, not too much sauce, great roll. Really good. I’ll be back to try their pizza and would have no problem going there for a low key BYOB dinner. There are lots of pizza places around — it’s nice to have a neighborhood place with this level of quality. I’ll go out of my way to support this new owner.

My husband and I ordered a pizza from here recently. The crust was too thick, but the overall taste was pretty good. We would try this place again.

Pizza is so good. Now that it’s an amazing pizzaria, I want to keep ordering food from here. Barbeque chicken pizza all day!

This place shows great potential. It has a smart sophisticated décor and is very clean. I ordered a plain pizza as well as a veggie pizza and on a follow up visit had garlic knots and a side salad. The veggie pizza was YUMMY! — the eggplant has some great breading and cooked in thin slices and I look forward to trying their eggplant panini on a future visit. Garlic knots– perfect, and exactly how they should be… Fluffy and chewy. The plain pizza was also good. Interestingly, I usually am not the biggest fan of leftovers but this pizza tasted really good reheated the next day– more so than other pizzas I’ve had. It stayed moist and fresh and it was just a pleasant surprise. The portion sizes on everything are generous and a refreshing change of pace. Freshness in all ingredients was evident and the owner definitely is trying to serve food he/she would eat and it shows in what they put out. As for service, the staff was nice, maybe not overly friendly but in a way it added a more authentic Italian vibe to the place. There is some good eye candy working there for the ladies(and some men too) in case you need an added perk to visit!

Went there last friday to pick up 2 pizzas for dinner. One large pepperoni and one personal veggie. The crusts were delicious, not too thin and not too thick. Good sauce, not too sweet. The pepperoni was not greasy at all and it had a sufficient amount of pepperoni. The large was a very generous size. The personal veggie was cooked just right, crust was good. I asked for a small amount of red sauce and that’s what I was given. It had a generous amount of veggies including broccoli, eggplant, onions and mushrooms. It was also a generous size for a personal pizza. The place itself was very clean and a cozy size. My family and I would definitley go back and try more pizzas and even some dinners… looking forward to the chicken milanese… Can’t wait :)

This pizzeria recently reopened not too long ago(used to be Marios). I walked in and the owner just so happened to be there so he took my order(seems like a genuine guy). I ordered the chef salad for take out. I drive back to my condo, open the bag and thought it was Sunday dinner! This thing was huge! Half a loaf of bread with a ton of cold cuts on top. I know it’s just a chef salad but what makes a good pizzeria in my book is obviously the pizza, but the amount of food they give for other dishes. This place doesn’t gyp ya. Only reason why I gave it 4 stars is because I never had the pizza there, but I will when super bowl comes around. Another perk, is that this place delivers. If you are in the North Edison area, you should give this place a shot. Ask for Lenny.
