I’ve only ordered take out — nice people — pizza average — baked pastas below average.

This is my all time favorite spot for cheese tortellini alfredo. I always go back home to visit my parents in Edison and end up ordering delivery from Café gallo, just for their tortellini. Fresh alfredo sauce, i always end up devouring the entire thing. And the salad dressing vinaigrette is good, so is the soft bread that comes with it. Love this place!

This will be a simple review since a 1st time I try any new pizzeria I only order a plain pie & maybe an appy/sandwich because to me to tell how well a pizza is made i dont have it with toppings so I can taste the quality of the cheese, bread & most importantly sauce. In this case I also ordered a veggie Panini(with mozzarella/sundried tomatoes) Guy on phone friendly, items arrived in the quoted time(which is all you can ask for esp on a Friday nite). Requested thin crust – pie a bit unevenly cooked(some burnt areas). Crust was thin about ¾ of each slice. However, sauce was virtually non-existent(like Pizza Hut) & only noticed a drop or 2 of oil when slices folded. There was virtually no sauce/oil spots in the box & we could have used NON grease-resistant paper plates to eat it. Rest of pie so-so I tasted the spices(garlic salt, oregano, red pepper flakes more than anything else). Panini was ok not great. With tax/tip came to $ 24 which is reasonable. I may try dining in the restaurant but will not order togo/takeout again. I also did a review of Luna Pizza on the same street definitely a better pizza.

Pizza was great, was well done as asked. I like the eggplant parm sandwich too. Good place for quick food.

Stopped by Café Gallo in Edison with my grandparents for a quick dinner last night. At first glance it was pretty cute — surprisingly nice décor for a little strip mall in Edison. Cliché Italian music playing in the background, nice bottles of water on the tables, etc. Wasn’t very crowded either, which is always a plus. Unfortunately the experience went downhill from there. In no particular order… — The screaming child in the back seriously did nothing for the ambiance. The ambivalent mother also didn’t seem to care one way or the other. «Family-style» doesn’t mean you get to bring your little hellions out with no repercussions. Or maybe it does, because waitress/management did nothing. — The menus were COVERED in sticky stuff and olive oil. All three menus, every page, front AND back covers. I made sure to keep mine away from my clothes. Seriously guys… clean your menus. Gross. — They didn’t offer specials on weeknights, which is fine… but we had the specials insert in our menus! My grandfather started to order and the waitress said«oh no sorry we don’t have specials on weeknights» and took the insert out of his hand. Unreal. — The food was average at best. I ordered fettuccine alfredo with shrimp — alfredo came out average but it was clear the shrimp had been defrosted only minutes before, and had that freezer-burned taste, and still had tails on them, meaning I had to cut them off every single one. If I could go back I would have skipped them and saved $ 6.50. — While the waitress stopped by to clear out plates, she ended up taking bread my grandfather was STILLEATING; she had to end up bringing out more bread for him. Have we heard of this new thing called«asking»? — We ordered a piece of chocolate peanut butter ice cream cake for dessert to share. The cake came out so deep-frozen our waitress had to literally bring out a STEAKKNIFE for me to saw my way through it so we could each have some. Seriously, there HAS to be a laundry list of better places to get Italian food in and around Edison. This place has an attached pizza joint on it, and that’s exactly how I would describe Café Gallo — a pizza joint that puts on airs. Listen guys, do what you do best and stick to being a pizza joint. Would not return nor recommend.

This is definitely my go to pizzeria. The staff is friendly and the food is good. The gourmet pies are a little pricey, but usually worth it. My biggest gripe is my most recent delivery of a vodka pie(my personal favorite) had barely any vodka sauce on it and was covered in cheese rather than having the blobs of fresh mozzarella. And since this is a gourmet pie(and $ 15 for a small!) I feel a little ripped off since I didn’t really get much of the«gourmet». However, I don’t usually have a problem, and the restaurant is nice to sit down and eat in. Overall, still my go-to pizza place. Just hope they fix their vodka pie so it’s back the way it was! Lots of vodka sauce, blobs of fresh mozzarella, and slivers of basil, please!

I was here for a bridal shower last summer and for lunch the other day. The shower was great and the good was very good. As for lunch, their sandwiches and pizza are very good but their service is lacking. It would not keep me from coming back, but just good to know.

I’ve lives in the area for over two years and always passed this place on Morris Ave. From the street, it looks like it’s located in the basement and doesn’t seem so appealing to eat there. Finally my wife decides she wants to check it out so we went there today. They had a private party but they sat is in the back by the bar. We started with the spicy muscles. Wow!!! That was amazing and highly recommend it. I had the rib eye steak and my wife had the capellini bolognese. My steak was average but cooked very well. The mushrooms and the sides were delicious. Had steak sauce with it and it was fairly good. My wife’s dish was a 5 star. We brought our 16 month old daughter and she enjoyed my wife’s meal! Will be coming back here!

Had oysters from both sides of the country & the pork belly… all absolutely delicious! The star of the night though was the berry infused martini… awesome!

I’ve been coming here more regularly and the food has been consistently good. Service can be a hit or miss depending on who the waitress is. They usually have nice specials and fairly priced. BYOB.

Gallo special pizza is the bomb. Super nice people work there also. Chicken cheesesteak is really good as well. Never ate inside, always take out, but food is great.

Nice local byob that always has discount coupons available. The food is good and there are a wide choice of desserts. Alex is the best server and very friendly. Sometimes the food is hit or miss and I do not understand why unless there is a variety of cooks in the kitchen. Go with pasta and you will be happy!

I’ve been coming here for a few years now and will continue to do so. It’s a bring your own restaurant, which is nice because I can bring my favorite bottle of wine at its normal cost. I love the chicken francaise with penne and the bread is really good, too. When I want pizza, I love the vodka pie with fresh mozzarella. Definitely give it a chance!

I had a very good meal here. It’s not fine dining but it is definitely a nice neighborhood place. The dining room décor and table settings are a lot nicer than many of the other pizza/restaurants that I frequent. The menu is very basic but also includes just about everything that you would expect to find. I thought the prices were very reasonable and the portions were on the large side. It is BYOB. Our server, I think her name was Alex, was very pleasant and helpful. Great smile, kiddo! The bread/rolls they served were out of the oven hot, hot, hot. They provide 2 dipping sauces. One was olive oil with some spices, and the other was a marinara sauce with what seemed to be chopped olives. I really enjoyed that one.
I had eggplant rollatini for my main course served over angel hair pasta. Everything tasted great although I thought the dish could have been a little hotter. For review purposes, and because I like to eat, I also tasted my mother in law’s eggplant parm dish. Also very tasty, but it too could have been a little hotter. I am really not sure why neither dish came out piping hot although both were cooked to «perfection» in terms of taste and consistency.

I guess I am risking getting yelled at by the owner on here, but I thought it was terrible. My pasta was overdone and my friend’s stuffed shells were dry and over cooked. I could have made better with my eyes closed. The place is nice and the bread is good, but the food? Not so much.

Worst pizza ever eaten. No stars :( We ordered for pizza with onions, jalapeños. It was horrible so hot that almost we felt we will have mouth sores. It’s crazy after the first bite we couldn’t eat the next one. My 4yr old vomited. Worst pizza in life. I called up and the attitude by the receptionist was worst. Please save yourself. Don’t ever go there. They also don’t honor the online coupon. Beware

Fantastic service, friendly staff, great food! I especially love the personal pizzas and linguine with red clam sauce. Heaven! Both my 40th birthday party and my and my husband’s 15th wedding anniversary/vow renewal party were held here and they did a wonderful job on both!
