Get the chicken over rice, and butter chicken they are amazing. I ordered carry out but because of train delay, i had to change it to pick up, that too very last minute, great customer service she changed the order to delivery. The owners are really sweet, its not about the money for them its about serving good food that brings a smile to your face. I am regular and my go to order is butter chicken, keema naan, chicken over rice and samosas. Also tried fried fish and biryani they were amazing.

This is where I get Indian food. It’s a takeout only* place on 27, on the west side of the street. The parking lot is only for people with skills– it’s a narrow downhill driveway and you parallel park on the left. Last night I saw someone hit a car while trying to get out. It might be safer to park in the back. The food is tasty and comforting. I usually get the chicken saag and I’ve gotten other dishes as well. I really need to branch out more and try some other things. One minor note is that it’s a bit too salty. They say they make the food to order, so I wonder if I could order it with low salt. Or they could just put less salt in their food– since you can add salt if you want, but you can’t remove it. *in the summer, they have a simple foldout table and chairs.

It’s a first time eating food from here so. Be me. 11:00AM sharp, call in to request take out. Brothas and sistas recommend Chicken and Rice NYC style. Ok. I’m told the order approximately 20 min to cook. Leave Allison Room Classroom computer lab and use my commuter powers to drive to Delhi Garden. Arrive at location. All parking spots were occupied. Side park like a boss/noob on the side. Went in to pick up meal. Small place, smelled greatly of spices in a good way. Cashier almost didn’t charge me, but I reminded him. Swag. 10% discount for Rutgers students. Godly. $ 7.70 total. Survived the icy barriers of Rt 27 back to stadium west lot. Parked all the way in the back. Shamelessly eat in my leather seated car. Close to Halal Guys, not quite. Better than anything I could get at Busch. Semi chewing, mostly swallowing. CRUNCH? A bone? Whatever, I finish what I start. All in one sitting. Whole trip and eating done @ 11:43AM. Boss. Now I’m back in the ARC computer labs feeling comatose, and I have a lab in an hour. So worth. My new Thursday ritual. 10⁄10 will do again. Thoughts: Side sauce is too sweet, will neglect next time. Edit: If you want to attempt this glorious feat, don’t eat breakfast.

One of the best Indian take out place… Real awesome Chicken and rice… They don’t have any dine in or sit out place. This place is purely to go. I am a big fan of Halal Guys NY. There are many imitators… but this place is one the best…

We were in the mood for Indian and didn’t feel like going to a sit-down, so Delhi Garden was a great find. Thanks Unilocal! We were told it would be ready in 40 minutes. When we got there it was sitting on a table, along with several other orders, waiting for us. This was a tiny, true hole in the wall, place with a packed parking lot and had many people walking in and out. You can’t sit here, as there are no tables. You call them, they give you a number, and you pick it up. They also deliver but only up to a 5 mile radius. If pick up, and your order is between $ 25-$ 60, they’ll give you 10% off. In order to get the discount, you have to pay cash and remind them when they’re ringing you up. They also give 10% off to rutgers students. We ordered a mango lassi, veggie samosas, dark meat chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, an order of garlic naan and an order of regular naan. This was not the best Indian food I’ve ever had, but it was pretty good considering it was only $ 30 for all of this food. Also, the portions were large. The really good: This was the best mango lassi I’ve ever had. The consistency was perfect. It wasn’t too watery like it is at some other places. It had the perfect balance of yogurt, mango, milk, and sugar. The vegetables samosas were pretty perfect. The order comes with two and they are large, crispy, and perfectly spiced. They’re a steal for only 2.50! You can’t go to an Indian place and not get naan bread. That’s just wrong. We got an order of regular naan and an order of garlic naan. Each order comes with 2 large pieces. The garlic naan was really good but it reminded me too much of a garlic knot that you’d get at a pizzeria. Not a bad thing… I think I just prefer to soak up my leftover sauces with more traditional naan. Both types of naan were on point in terms of softness and flavor. The just okay: The stews we got were okay. The chicken tikka was a little too salty and the lamb vindaloo had a lot of really dry pieces of lamb. The sauces were good. They were spicy but not too overpowering. Will definitely come back the next time I have a hankering for some good, reasonably-priced Indian food.

Had Goat Biriyani and it is definitely one of the best biriyani I had here. The goat meat was cooked to perfection(quite tender — but could not be sure whether it was goat or sheep meat). Anyway the biriyani tasted good. For starters we ordered mal mal kabab and definitely a must try if u love kababs. And this place is a take away place; though they have a couple of seats but I guess most of us will try to avoid eating out dere!

Amazing food at unbelievable price! They’ve always given us realistic estimate of the pick up time and the food is always so delicious. I’ve had their aloo papri chaat, paneer bhurji, methi malai matar, pudina naan, regular naan. I plan to try more. I am so glad these guys are so close by!

Reader beware, this review may be as full of sap as their food is full of flavor. This places instills my faith in Unilocal,in holes in walls, and in independent causal dining establishments. Ideally, Unilocal is a place you go to find a spot with amazing food that you might not find on your own just driving around. Delhi Garden is exactly that. No huge signs, not a huge place, and easy enough to pass by without thinking twice. I initially almost decided not to go when I realized there was no seating, as I was going for lunch in between meetings and had time to kill. Ended up just eating at the little counter there, and enjoyed my meal so much I got two more to take with me. I had the Bihari Kabab and garlic naan, and let me just that the Kebab may have been the best chicken I have ever had! Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and went so well with garlic naan and mint chutney. Also, as I ate at the counter, I was able to talk with the owner while I ate and he was an incredibly friendly man, who was clearly incredibly passionate about the food coming out of his kitchen. Since they only do take out /delivery, they can focus 100% of their effort on the food, and it shows. Do yourself a favor, and if you live in their delivery radius, order some for your next lazy afternoon /evening in. If you’re passing through the area, definitely call in an order and make a pit stop. Could not have a better lunch or lunch experience than I just did here.

Being how this place is smack in the middle of Edison,(home of the largest NRI diaspora outside of India), you would think that all of these Indian restaurants would be bringing it and that they would be all 4 star Unilocal reviews. Sadly this is not the case. There’s really a lot of varying degree as to the quality of Indian food out there just for the fact that there are so many Indians in NJ. There’s really quite amount of variance for the same named dishes depending on where in India the cooks are from or how they managed to learn how to cook Indian food; how much British influence was exerted on their style of Indian food and if the restaurants panders to non-Indians. There’s really a lot of bad Indian restaurants and you would have no idea that it was bad unless you grew up somewhere like NYC and was able to sample all of the Indian restaurants on Lexington Avenue and the East Village or live near Edison, NJ. This is why you can’t trust Unilocal reviews, because there are Unilocalers who have no idea what they are talking about giving crap restaurants great reviews because they are used to accepting mediocre trash food that is watered down for people who can’t handle seasoning. In this case Delhi Garden is one of those shops that really brings it. Super tasty and fresh takeout only. The front of the house is manned by two people taking care of the register, phone orders and smoothing things out in the back. Food is really flavorful and affordable. There is no pandering as evidenced by all the young Desi’s in their 20’s driving up in their pimped Honda’s and BMW’s grabbing a meal to go before I presume they go out drinking or coming back from a party.

This is my second review for Delhi Garden. I recently had a party at my place and ordered appetizers. Food was real good and tasty. Best was Dahi wada. I had not tasted such yummy dahi wada anywhere in Edison. Assorted pakoras were good and fresh too. Chicken 65 was disappointing, but overall my guests loved the food. Thank you so much for your fresh and tasty food !

I have always loved this place and I do not mind waiting the hr for delivery. My past delivery was horrible, it was not late however the food was cold. Maybe they do not have heaters in the delivery cars or maybe they just put it in the trunk. I will not be getting delivery again in cold months unless I want to have cold chicken.

A hole in the wall place that offer delicious all kinds of delicious Indian food. Few tips: if you have decision phobia, you better study the menu ahead of time, coz they have sooo many items on their menu. Also, I notice they mostly do delivery and take out, as they only have two table in the store front(yes, outdoor seatings).

Delhi Garden has ruined me because the food is so good that every other Indian restaurant I visit never hits the spot. Take Out Only, takes half an hour to prepare your food, and really hard to spot but none of this matters. This is the type of food that makes me feel warm and tingly inside. This is the food that tastes like someone’s grandmother made it. This is the type of food that converts nonbelievers into Indian food lovers. Try it, you wont regret it.

giving 4 stars to raise bar… Good part: — Food is tasty /Awesome — Consistent with taste(very important coz many indian restaurants are not consistent) — Quantity is generous — reasonable price areas of improvement: — the lady who mostly takes order… needs some fine tuning related to her customer service skills. this is definitely a restaurant which is a hidden jewel for take outs.

Everything was very good. Just with inconsistent degrees of spiciness. I wanted Chicken 65 and the hubs went for his standard lamb vindaloo and aloo gobi. Threw in a sambar just to try it. I guess the 65 means there’s a 65 factorial of ways it could taste — not that this was bad, just not as mindblowing as I’ve had elsewhere. And not that spicy. The vindaloo was also surprisingly mild. And the aloo gobi surprisingly hot. Again, it was delicious, just unexpected. Also unexpected were the pint size plastic soup containers that were used for each entrée. It looked like it wasn’t that much food compared to other places that use the shallow rectangle containers. I’m bummed that it’s not a sit-down place because I live too far for the fried stuff or dosas to stay crispy and delicious. And somehow those two outdoor tables with highway ambiance aren’t going to cut it. Conclusion: it’s high on the list and will order again, but perhaps not before trying other places in the area.

India Food at its Best. The food is always good, never disappointed me in the past 3 years that I visit this place. Love the Tandoori, absolutely the best tandoori. Mind you its not a seat-in place its a strict takeout joint(they do have 2 tables but I am sure you wouldn’t want to be seated there), Guess that the reason why they can afford such low prices. Also make sure you call and place your order before you go down, in case you are not having food delivered. Tips: If you are a Rutgers Student or Employee you get 10% discount. If your order is above $ 30, make sure you check-in on Unilocal and get 10% off

This place is my holy grail for Indian cuisine and I can’t stop raving about it to everyone I know. I LOVE their chicken biryani, mango lassi, naan, chicken makhani, chicken tikka masala, chicken tikka kebabs, and kati rolls(basically everything I have tried so far). Awesome portions for the price(~$ 8-$ 10 per entrée). I have spent so much money and gained so much weight eating here since I discovered it about 10 months ago… So worth it. The only thing I have gotten that didn’t really meet my expectations was the vegetable biryani. I asked for spicy and I received very bland and mild. If only it was as spicy and flavorful as the chicken biryani! Overall: Go here. If you’re a Rutgers student, this is the place to go, albeit a little out of the way.

There’s no shortage of good Indian establishments in the New Brunswick and Edison areas. So when I started working nearby I knew I was not gonna have a hard time finding some spots. Delhi Garden became one of my favorites to have a quick fix of some Desi goodness. With good flavors, good portions, and inexpensive prices this place is a great find. I usually make my stop on the way home to pick up dinner along with a snack to hold me over for the long drive ahead. My usual is their version of chicken and rice platter. Now it’s evident that they can not remotely come close to how good the ones are in the city, but for a small place in Edison that’s on my way back home and $ 7.00 for a huge amount of food, you just can’t beat it. The white sauce and red sauce covering the food gives it the right amount of balance and flavor, but as I’ve said it doesn’t really blow your mind like the cart in NYC. I’ve also had their chicken tikka masala and saag paneer and both are quite delicious. It could use a little more spice in my opinion but I’m just nitpicking. Now as for the snack I was talking about I always get an order of either a vegetable samosa or the one with meat. It really depends on what I’m craving that day. Regardless both preparations are done perfectly with flaky dough and flavorful filling. It’s great for the munchies when I’m stuck in traffic on the GSP. As for the place itself this is more of a take-out or delivery joint that a sit-down. Don’t expect to eat here because quite frankly the space is so small. Just have a seat on their comfy sofa, wait for your food, and jump quickly into your car when you get it because the sooner you get home the sooner that amazing smelling grub will get into your belly. Like I said in the beginning there are certainly no shortage of Indian restaurants around the area but Delhi Garden ranks among my fav and that’s why I keep stopping by.
