I was recently visiting family in Edmond and suffering Bar Method withdrawal, so I decided to try Barre3. What a great surprise! The staff was warm and welcoming. All three teachers I tried were amazing — enthusiastic, motivating, and with clear cues. I really enjoyed the mix of barre, Pilates, and yoga moves and I definitely broke a sweat. I was all around happy to find this gem in Edmond and will definitely be back.

After having visited both of the other barre3 locations in OKC, I had an opportunity to check out the Edmond studio this past weekend. A(free) community class that had been scheduled for a nearby park was cancelled due to weather so they offered a class at the studio instead. It’s a great studio and now that I’ve been to all 3, I really can’t say there is much difference between them. They are all beautiful and have awesome instructors! Always make sure you preregister though because their classes often fill up. I hadn’t done so when I went and briefly thought I drove to Edmond for nothing, but luckily there was space for me!

Okay. I’m sold. I’ve been doing Barre3 at home for a while, but one of my New Years Resolutions was to get into the studio to make sure I’m actually doing it right. While the studio work is much harder than the online videos, it is also much more enjoyable. The spaces are beautiful, the music is excellent, and it’s just nice to get out of your normal space and into such a different world. I decided to try the Edmond location because I wanted to take the Foundations class since I’m a noobs. One studio class and I’m a devotee. First of all, they greeted me by name when I walked in, not because they knew me, but because they knew they didn’t know me. I must have been the only new face on the list. So, they knew I needed the tour, which I got, and I was glad to have. I’m just saying, if you’ve been avoiding trying it because you don’t know what to expect, don’t give that another thought. The Foundations class is slower paced than the regular classes, but still challenging. The classes are kept small, and the instructor comes by to check on you and make adjustments as needed. I got a lot more out of it by making tiny adjustments to my form. My muscles were burning in no time! The class felt much shorter than 60 minutes; for me, workout classes seem to last forever, so I take this as a sign I’m on to something that’s a good fit for me. We’ll see if I keep something up for the first time in my life, but I’m trying to make it to a Barre class twice a week. I’ll keep you posted.
