Ate here at the recommendation of my parents. I had a gator po’ boy, it was really good. First time having gator, it had a white meat chicken like texture, but the flavor was kind of beefy. Almost like little chicken fried steak nuggets. Dad had the red beans and rice. He said they had really good flavor. The ladies both had fried chicken salads(huge) that included all the usual big salad things plus a full serving size pile of fried chicken nuggets. I got to sample one and it was very nicely seasoned. They put the dressing on the side which is nice. Appetizers were fried pickles and okra. The okra was well seasoned and fresh breaded. The pickles were well done too and all the batter didn’t fall off when you handled them. Sweet tea was great with all the refills you want. Our servers even fixed us up with to go drinks. The staff was really helpful and attentive. Overall a great experience and I’m sure we’ll be back.

We felt the young lady whom was serving was very disrespectful to an elderly man sitting behind us. We weren’t disrespected by her, but our service wasn’t «friendly» by any means. My husband ordered the Voodoo burger, he liked it. I ordered the Fried pickles for an appetizer and a cup of Jumbalya. The fried pickles weren’t seasoned or peppered, just plain. The Jumbalya was alright. Both needed more seasoning, but was satisfied.

Nothing close to real Cajun food. Tasted like something out of the frozen food section and heated in the microwave.

The food was great. Staff was nice. Place was clean. They treat my father like a part of their family. they even called to make sure was okay when he went to the hospital after a bout with pneumonia. The wild Bill gumbo was amazing. Red beans and Rice was superb. Go here and eat!

We went there tonight to get some seafood since it is lent. Our party of six was very happy with the food. We ordered 2 shrimp po’boys, shrimp n catfish, red beans and rice, and another dish with shrimp and a cream sauce. The fried food was great! The special sauce on the po’boy was the best! Originally I asked for it on the side, but once I tasted it I poured it all on my po’boy. The prices were very reasonable! We will definitely go back… especially for the fried shrimp! Oh the waitstaff was very friendly as well!

I stopped in for a late lunch so there was no crowd. I had the«Shrimpnado» because the dish’s name made me chuckle reminding me of Sharknado, II, III etc… It was good. The shrimp were on the medium side, but well prepared and pride was taken in the presentation. I had the cup of Jambalaya. It was tasty. The portion to price was fine as well. Before people eat here and compare it to New Orleans, remember that this is Oklahoma. If it’s not authentic enough, South to Dallas, turn left…

The seafood gumbo and crawfish étouffée is some of the best in metro OKC… And the gator is also great, nice big chucks that don’t get over cooked. My only complaint is the bread for the sandwiches could be better but not a deterrent from ordering : —) Also the staff is friendly and helpful, and the facilities are clean.

I can only give four stars, because I’ve only tried one thing on their menu; jambalaya. And let me make myself clear, I have been here multiple times! This place has me craving it, and today I got my fix! I am always looking for a new local place, and this is a good one in Edmond. The staff is always nice, and when I call in, my food is hot and ready right on time. The atmosphere is a fun New Orleans style. Overall, if you’re wanting some good, spicy, Cajun food, this is a good go-to in town.(I’ll need to expand my taste buds, however, I have a feeling, everything will be good).

I brought my daughter down to see her dad. I wanted to make sure she tried some new foods. Her dad n I love crawfish. I found this joint. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We ended up with six pounds of spicy crawfish, fried gator, fries, and coleslaw. Of course we had to do a corn dog for our daughter just in case she didn’t like anything. We all loved it, she loved gator and crawfish. Now she’s only two and was a good girl the whole time until the spice kicked in. We will be returning, and trying more off the menu.

It was my first and last time I will be eating from Bighead’s. I was craving a Po-boy and unfortunately I will continue to crave for a quality sandwich. I ordered the mini boys, which seemed to be made on hotdog buns. I also ordered the regular sized fried alligator Po-boy, it had to much breading, whatever sauce the cover the sandwich with had entirely to much mayo in it. But the food was not the only poor service, the lady working the front register, had absolutely no knowledge about anything on the menu(except for the names of the items). She told myself and the next two customers a dozen times that she had never eaten seafood or anything Cajun until two days ago. I am not saying be an expert on the subject, but have some kind of knowledge of the food you are selling. For these and a couple other reasons. I will not be returning. I do wish BigHeads great luck.

If you want real Cajun food do not go here. I’ve tried it 3 times now and have never felt the urge to want to finish my meals. It taste like a fast food style kitchen

I have been here a few times! I always want to try something new, just so I can say I’ve tried not just ONE item on the menu. I love their chicken tenders! I usually hate chicken tenders, but after trying theirs, I made me like only certain ones. The tenders were lightly battered and perfect size. The order came with very crispy fries which I love! Also, I enjoy their fried okra. I was informed they batter they own okra, which probably explains the flakiness of the batter outside. I don’t eat much seafood, but my parents loved the gumbo(which had a good kick and serve with a good amount of sausage) and crawfish étouffée(which had a rich flavor and when try ate it, they stated I felt like they were back in Louisiana). I would definitely come back here when I’m craving tenders or wanting some Cajun food!

We’ve tried this place twice now and neither visit has knocked our socks off. The first time we went for Po Boys. While they were OK, they really need to find a more traditional baguette type of roll… that’s a big part of the whole package! It had been awhile since our last visit, so we decided to try them again. Hubby ordered the po boy again and this time I got the jambalaya. The roll was still just as disappointing as the first time. The jambalaya was even more disappointing. It had NOFLAVOR whatsoever… I must have put a 1⁄8th of the bottle of hot sauce on it to get it to the point where it was at least had some flavor to it. *SIGH* I think I’ll stick to Bayou Grill or make my own… which had gotten rather favorable reviews during our last Superbowl party. There were a few folks eating steamers while we were there both times. This past visit was crawfish… little net bags containing the food that is steamed and cut open. Not sure how fresh it is, but I wasn’t willing to go down that path if the basics weren’t decent. Not so sure they’ll get a third shot from us… very disappointing.

I have been waiting for some good Cajun food in the Edmond side of town! Unfortunately, my wait continues. I ordered an assortment of food to go. So, it’s possible the meals taste better when eating in the restaurant. Most things on the menu are fried, and I realize you don’t want to wait to long to eat fried food. The establishment itself is nothing to talk about. Small place, dead on a Friday night, food court feel. A few decorations on the wall, but pretty basic. Appetizer sampler: Fried seafood, all tasted the same. Pan seared chicken salad: iceberg lettuce, tiny bits of chicken, tomatoes and croutons. Not much flavor at all, over priced. Fried catfish was dry. No one in my party finished their meals, and it wasn’t because of the portion size. I really really wanted to love this place. I’m not a Cajun food expert, I’ve never even been to New Orleans. My bar for comparing Cajun food is Bourbon Street Café, only because I worked there for part of my life. If you are on the north side and dying for some Cajun, give this place a try. Others love it, so in this case it just wasn’t my taste.

This is like the fuzzy’s of the Cajun world. Order at the counter, they bring your food, enjoy in peace. I ordered the catfish po’ boy. Don’t let the menu fool you when it says one piece of catfish, there were 4 nice pieces on an 8″ hoagie, with a delicious remoulade sauce that made the sandwich. The fries were crispy and fresh. The only thing I suggest is not going here if you don’t like fried food, I wish they offered more blackened and grilled options. Plenty of seating and parking. Staff was very courteous.

This is a wonderful place to eat. When bigheads first open I had eaten here 2 weeks straight. I was here everyday. I have tried everything on the menu. I have a menu item named after me its called mistyday crabcake sandwich. I love it. I always get some kind of poboy, catfish, grilled chicken, or shrimp. The batter of the fried food is very good. I love the big cups of gumbo and red beans n rice. The fried pecan pie is really good. Very addictive. The owners quan & van are always so friendly. I love these guys. You will find a quote of the day on the menu board daily that has tasteful humor. On Saturday’s in the evening time you can enjoy uco jazz band that plays.

Location: Across from long john silvers on broadway in edmond. Nice ample good parking! Easy entrance and exit. Staff: Very helpful and knowledgeable.(«They can tell you were their fish comes from. What is doesn’t or does have in it.) Ordering process: walk through the doors and straight to the check out counter where the menu is located.(it’s a big menu, see photos) and order and pay right there at the counter. or if your like me and need to examine and think over your options you can grab a menu and a table and review it over till your sure of the specific yummy magic you wish to gobble. the drinks are fountain style do it yourself. Food: Cajun done right. Clean catfish not dirty. Thick cuts. Corn fried breading as it should be in cajun food. Also has kid friendly menu items like burgers and chicken strips. Extra: Free wifi Kid friendly Student corner area with library

Went to Bighead’s last night and it was a quite a nice experience! The dining area is super clean and brand new. I especially love the colors – red & yellow! There are paintings of crawfish on the wall, which add a little bit of whimsy to this spicy cajun joint. What was ordered? –Fried Calamari –Jambalaya –Crawfish étouffée –2 sodas –dessert was buffet style on a table The food was hot upon arrival. My crawfish dish came out first. It was basically a plate of shelled crawfish tails in sauce with chopped celery and peppers atop white rice. I enjoyed the flavors; however, I felt the crawfish had a fishy taste to it. I also could have done without the piece of toasted bread. Too much carbs for me! My boyfriend’s jambalaya was flavorful. The thing I liked most was the sausage. Again, his dish came with a piece of bread, which he didn’t bother to eat. Next, the calamari. The breading was superb, but every time I took a bite, the coating would slide off of the slippery squid. I kind of wished they made the pieces bite size like popcorn chicken. I sat at a table with a fellow elite member(Kevin) and tried his fried alligator. The breading seemed to stay on better then on the calamari. It tastes just like chicken(dark meat chicken, but a little chewier). My favorite dessert was this chocolate/vanilla budding with cake thing. It could have almost been a tiramisu, but I thought that would be strange to serve at a cajun restaurant… I heard the bread pudding was on the dry side. My boyfriend accidentally spilt my beverage all over the floor, but the staff was super friendly about it and quickly cleaned it up. The food runners and staff at the cash register were tentative with smiles on their faces.

I have had so many bad experiences with Cajun food that for the longest time, I thought that«Cajun» meant that everything is burned(«blackened») and combined with overcooked and soggy rice. Bighead’s has made me rethink that. Apparently Cajun food is supposed to be yummy. Apparently Cajun food involves unique food stuffs like Alligator and Frog. Apparently what I’ve been eating is not Cajun food *cough* Bourbon Street *cough*. The Seafood Combo seemed like a good choice. The oysters were the highlight of the Combo(for me), but the catfish and shrimp were also delightful. The Cajun rice had what appeared to be ground sausage or beef, but it didn’t overpower anything else on the platter and was a light and enjoyable side. The slaw was meh; kind of sour and not in a good way. However, what really made my night was the Fried Alligator. It was possibly my most enjoyable«new food» experience to date. It had a fatty texture, and a flavor I can’t really describe. It made me wish that I lived somewhere closer to those reptiles so that I can go all Crocodile Dundee on their delicious *sses. The batter(on all of the battered thingies) was equally delicious. My brother tagged along and he really enjoyed the Crawfish Étouffée, although the Fried Alligator was also his favorite. As if that wasn’t enough, the Bread Pudding and some Chocolate Éclair business pushed me beyond satiation to borderline food coma. I didn’t even finish the food. I took more than half of it home. While the food was quite enjoyable, I was most impressed with Bighead’s staff. Good peoples. So friendly. P. S. Free wi-fi is available, but it looks like you’ll have to ask for the password?
