Since Club Corp took over, they have made many changes. Most of these changes reflect a very non-family friendly organization. The dining area was redesigned as a one size fits all sports bar. The kiddie pool enclosed play area was taken out of the swimming pool area. And the final straw was the fort playground was demolished in order to accommodate parking. Never mind that this area is nowhere near any club area. There are common areas in the neighborhood where a playground could be built or activities could take place, but these have remained for decades simply as empty lots. There is a large number of young kids in the neighborhood, not to mention grandchildren. Apparently Club Corp’s only interest is in organized club sports. We have lived in this neighborhood for almost 20 years and this is truly the final statement that families do not matter.

This country club is gorgeous and one of my favorite venues in Edmond. It is just terrific for events, and the catering is delicious. The golf course is also beautiful and scenic, so it makes for a great place to host any golf tournament.

Recently«reinvented», this place is absolutely gorgeous, a gem glittering in the wide open spaces north of Oklahoma City. It’s guard-gated so when you pull up, you immediately get that«oh wow» feeling that intensifies when you walk through the front door of the clubhouse. Inside, more wide open space is the atrium with a rough hewn, raw/polished huge wood slab table for you to relax at while you wait for… whatever you like. Keep advancing through and you find yourself in the spacious lounge that has small tables within, sparkly chandeliers that are freeform sculptures with mini lights at the tips and beyond, an enormous mass of glass looking out over the new terrace. In this space you’ll find more of the luxe furnishings; another huge wood slab table for sipping a beverage at, and sumptious stuffed leather chairs for relaxing. The terrace will be a wonderful place to have relaxing dinners or elegant receptions and events. It overlooks the course and is both peaceful and inviting. The staff, led by the most gracious general manager you’ll ever meet, is warm and welcoming. These folks are so happy to be here and it shows in their attitude. Just upon arriving, you’re greeted like long lost family; none of this stuffy old-style country club attitude here. My fifth star will be awarded once I’ve tried the new menu. Until then, join me at the club!

I recently ventured out with my brother and his wife for a dinner at Oak Tree’s restaurant. I didn’t have many expectations because I hadn’t heard much about their restaurant, but giving that it is a Country Club, I hoped for an above par dining experience. My expectations were met and exceeded! The staff was friendly and professional while being very attentive. My glass never reached the bottom before a fresh drink was placed in front of me. My brother likes a lime with his drink and the server was intentional about making sure he received a fresh lime with every refill.(Big plus in my book) For an appetizer, we started with the Mussels. Each mussel was fresh and power packed with flavor and the red wine sauce they were served in was delectable.(My mouth is watering now just thinking about it.) For my entrée I ordered the fish and chips. As you will see in the picture, the portion was very generous and the fish was battered and fried to perfection. The fish was flaky and tasted fresh and the coleslaw was flavorful and creamy. The French fries had a light batter on them as well that tied in well with the flavor of the fish. This is seriously the best fish and chips I’ve ever had outside of the eastern seaboard! Kudos to Oak Tree and their staff for making this a wonderful experience in a beautiful and clean establishment. If you know someone who is a member, I definitely recommend having them take you to dinner and if not, go get a membership! You won’t regret it.
